This was a very dull and boring cruise. The ship was fairly new so staterooms were nice and food was excellent but the staff failed to responsibly handle my bag and I never received it during my cruise. It disappeared on a two block bus shuttle to the dock so I believe someone handling it stole it. I wasn’t able to keep my bag with me for the ride to the dock so it was my carryon containing many valuable items. For an entire week they assured me it would be located so the trail became increasingly cold as each day passed. After returning home I was instructed to contact Customer Relations. I feel they weren’t responsible in trying to resolve my issue at all. On the ship I was told to gather receipts for the items in my bag. Many were irreplaceable and very valuable as well as medical equipment and eyeglasses. In the end they didn’t ask for these receipts since they never intended to compensate me. On top of my loss the shore excursions were terrible. On one trip we were supposed to walk a civil war cemetery and tour a location where surrender papers were signed but the cruise failed to arrange enough transportation to take us there. When we were finally taken late there wasn’t enough time to get off the bus and we had to just drive past these two attractions. We also had a handicapped individual traveling with us and they failed to board this person early so every excursion was late leaving the dock. The staff was all very young and inexperienced with the exception of a few seasoned staff. There was a nurse on the ship but she had nothing to work with except a small plastic tub with a few bandaids in it. This was a very expensive cruise and ended up being nothing more than a pricey floating restaurant. Evening entertainment was horrible and the few passengers who did go to it left early. My advice is DON’T cruise with American Cruise Lines. If you do, plan to be responsible for all your possessions. And don’t expect the crew to enforce masking requirements.
