Wanted to try Viking Ocean after having enjoyed their river cruise but when the captain chose to not stop at Santorini due to high winds even though the Holland America ship did stop I decided that I would probably not choose Viking Ocean again. The rest of the cruise was more enjoyable and the service like on most cruise ships was superb. The ship was well laid out and our cabin was quite spacious. We really enjoyed the explorer lounge and the bartender there. There was nothing exceptional about the entertainment. The included shore excursions we generally nice but the viator excursions we booked were outstanding. My favorite port was Koper, Slovenia where we booked an excursion through Viator and visited the castle and cave. We wanted a small group and it tuned out to be just the two of us and our guide and was far beyond our expectations. One of the main reasons I booked this cruise was to tour the ancient Akrotiri ruins which didn't happen as the Captain felt the wind was too high for all the old folks onboard. He warned us the night before that this was likely to be the case but rather than have an alternate port chose to go there and then steam right by allowing us to wave at the Holland America ship that was able to stop.

Cabin Review

Nice and roomy.
