We were drawn to this itinerary due to the number of ports visited. We had previously travelled with HAL in Alaska on Volendam and were very happy with the service. The Koningsdam is a much larger and new ship with more modern features.
Embarkation with HAL is very smooth, they make it seemless and have you onboard without any delay. Once onboard you are free to explore the ship and your luggage is in your room immediately.
We were disappointed that we didn't get set dining, but always managed to get a table each night in the lower dining room. The staff throughout the ship are very friendly and attentive.
Good location, large enough for 2 adults, good size balcony, although we vary really sat outside. Good size bathroom. Excellent lighting, especially sensor light that came on at night . Room was very dark at night , which was great for a good nights sleep. Only downside was room above was either Pinnacle or Neptune suite which is a large suite and we got a lot of noise from things being dragged along floor and banging, we did mention to guests services, but not a lot they could do.
Lovely spot, very clean, only walked around main townsite and explore a few of the ruins.
HOHO bus very good, explored by foot, Picasso Museum was worth the visit
We did HOHO bus, but traffic was horrendous and took hours to get around. Highlight was visit to Segrada Familia except we had tried to days to get tickets for visit inside and all our efforts failed so we had to be satisfied with touring outside only. A lot of other passengers from the Ship had experienced same problem
We caught the little train to the top of the peak to visit Notre Dame de la garde. Absolutely beautiful and one of the highlights of our trip. We then wandered around the townsite and loved the dock and all the fishing boats and fisherman selling their catch. Clean, relaxing and beautiful visit
Old town was beautiful as was Marina and all the allyways, spotlessly clean and a lovely day exploring.
Wandered around on foot exploring, very easy to get around, didn't attempt visit to Etna due to time contraints. Beautiful basilica and interesting markets
Unfortunately weather was not good for our visit, so we wandered around on foot and then headed back onboard
