We selected this cruise because it was completing a bucket list item for us - seeing all 50 states of the United States. This cruise exceeded our expectations in most every area. The staff was warm and knowledgeable. They made every effort to accommodate our requests. The food was outstanding with regional specialties. We enjoyed the opportunity to order half-portions but think we still added a couple of extra pounds. The on-board historian and musician, Tom Hook, added depth and enjoyment to each day. A pleasant surprise was the series of Watercolor Painting classes with Linda Curtis. To have such a high caliber instructor available each day in entertaining and informative classes, was a real plus. The weather was springtime stormy with the Mississippi River well above flood stage. The ship never even rocked! Unless it was with music. The entertainment was fun and all of the acts were top-notch. We are not Jazz and Blues fans, but thoroughly enjoyed the presentations. The stars encouraged audience participation and there were many laughs and smiles. There were a few minor changes in itinerary due to tornados and thunder storms but the staff reorganized quickly and we still enjoyed all of the excursions. There was a personal touch from the Cruise Director and the many step-on guides at each destination. We enjoyed this American Cruise Lines trip so much that we are already confirmed for a new trip next spring!

Cabin Review

Cabin Private Balcony AAL

The cabin was larger than expected and well appointed. The location on the ship was perfect.

Port Reviews

The Historic Longwood Exploration was fascinating. The history of the house, the area, and the times were portrayed in an entertaining and intriguing fashion

Baton Rouge

The boat tour of the Atchafalaya Basin was a bit wet because of the springtime storms. But it was still beautiful trip through the bayou. (see picture)
