The sofa does not pull out into a double bed. It will only sleep one perso

We sailed on a 7 day Caribbean cruise stopping at Naassau, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay.

As seasoned Holland America cruisers, and having sailed on the Statendam in 1996, we wanted the larger ship experience. Being used to the small ships, you hardly knew that there were 2,600 guests on board. The NS is a beauty. The art is music themed and quite interesting. Weather was great and she seemed to sail effortlessly through the water with not much movement.

The Lincoln Center has soothing classical type music as scheduled times. Close by is the the B.B. King Blues Band as well as the Rolling Stone Rock Room and Billboard where a husband and wife played dueling pianos.while alternating with the Rolling Stones Rock band.

Cabin Review

Neptune Suite with Verandah

Cabin SB

It was our first time in an aft suite with the wrap around balcony and we were not disappointed. We were on deck 5 which was close to the elevators to the Lido and rear pool but a bit of a walk to the Neptune Lounge on Deck 7. The cabin is beautifully appointed but a somewhat smaller than the normal Neptune. Really liked the window over the bed and the views with the wrap around balcony. We had the best of both worlds as we could watch the sunset in the evening and the shade on the side balcony.

It was difficult to sit on the sofa the way the pillows were arranged and we re-arranged them to make it comfortable. We were told that the sofa can sleep one so there is no permanent arm rest at the end. (probably max the cabin can sleep would be 3) More than enough outlets, both sides of the bed and over the desk with a Bose docking station for music listening. Drawer and closet space is plenty as is the size of the bathroom. The shower was quite large but you won't find a bath rub in this cabin. Double sinks and lots of storage in the bathroom. Lighting was great but lacked an outlet for the hair dryer and curling iron. Not a fan of using the curling iron in the middle of the cabin!

The TV was large and offered informative daily on board activities. Variety of shows were standard ship fare- Fox, CNN, etc. as well as HGTV shows.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We walked around town and had a drink at El Convento. Very nice. Ship docked very close to everything. If you need a drug store, there is a large Walgreens on the corner across from the ship.

Half Moon Cay

We ordered the lobster ahead of time and it was quite tasty.
