Seeing the Amazon River and particularly the Opera House in Manaus has been on our bucket list for some time. Being able to do it on a Viking Ocean Cruise made it the perfect fit. We have cruised more than 50 times and the Viking cruises have the best of them all. The ocean cruises are better than any we have done. The smaller passenger size, the ambiance, the service, the itinerary, the enrichment programs -- all are wonderful. The included excursions were very informative about the location and history of the area visited. The optional cruises offered were varied and have something for everyone, whether it is an active one or an educational one. It was fun going piranha fishing , seeing the Boi Bumba Folkloric performance with the very colorful Carvaval-style costumes, cruising on the famous Meeting of the Waters (the Black River and the Solimoes River). The most interesting one was a visit to a local village along the Guama River and with a guided walk through the forest -- seeing the local plant life. All in all, it was the best cruise ever for us.

Interesting itinerary and excursions
