The Norwegian Spirit has seen its better days, and it appears that Norwegian has downgraded services considerably.

The ship, our stateroom, and service staff were not up to par on an 11-day cruise from Barcelona to the Canaries. On arrival in our stateroom, the coffeemaker was broken as was the TV remote; the shower door did not close; there was a black ring around the toilet bowl; and the screws attaching the balcony banister were rusted, a potential safety hazard.

When we reported for the obligatory evacuation drill, the attendants did not have our names on the passenger list – another safety matter, since if the ship were really in trouble, staff would not have known that we were onboard. The inter-ship phones to call room-to-room were not working for the entire trip.
