Yes I know I said we would never go back on the Jewel unless it was free... but this cruise was SO cheap we couldn't resist! Ha ha. And boy are we glad we did!

We paid NZ$800 (twin share) for 10 nights to Fiji and Tonga and also had around $250 of freebies each (inc AUD$100 room credit, free Wifi, free $5 icecream daily each, free dinner at Salt Grill for 2, free soft drinks package each) plus a discounted drinks package for $33 p/day p/person discounted down from $79. How can you say no with that kind of past passenger offer? That was through an email promo through P & O. And aimed at Past Passengers. We booked directly through the P & O NZ website.

And we got a room upgrade from the cheapest interior to an interior room on 11 just a few steps away from Oasis. So no balcony required for us, we just went to Oasis when we wanted to sit outside.

This cruise was fabulous. SO much better than the one in May! It seemed like all of the issues we had were addressed. Every.single.one. Unbelievable. And the food was warm and hot! And not overcooked! Yay! (read my earlier review on here).

Staff were all great. Especially the ones in the Cafe on 12. Eager and helpful. A huge turnaround from the last cruise on the Jewel.

The Oasis didn't smell like an old unwashed Dim Sum restaurant either!

Auckland is such a breeze for embarkation and disembarkation. The staff work very hard to ensure a stress free and easy process. Full credit to them. We had no issues. But my nice new suitcase has a massive dent but these things happen.

I can't believe how different this cruise was from the last one. We were so apprehensive as the last one was *really* awful. Seriously.

Our faith has been restored and can't wait to go on another again.

Tours: We did one tour in Tonga. The half day one to the other side of the island of Nuku'Alofa. Was around $49 each from memory. Went to a resort. Was pretty basic (no pool) however we saw numerous humpbacks jumping and breaching from the shoreline. Was amazing. Far away but you could still see them quite well. Take binoculars and take a snack with you as chips were like $10 a pack from the bar there.

Cabin Review

Cabin Interior 11206

Fabulous. Very quiet! You get used to not having a window. Close to Oasis and also being able to pop up to the Pantry and get cheese and wine to take back to cabin before bed. lol

We would request this room again.
