A river cruise was on our 'bucket list' - we decided to go for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Our cabin was comfortable, and easy to get around, we enjoyed sitting on the top of the boat in the evening enjoying nice weather and gorgeous views. All staff was attentive and friendly. The only thing they could do differently that would make a better cruise experience would be to work on the breakfast buffet. There were too many people with no where to go, the buffet was crowded, the lines got jammed and this made for an unpleasant experience. It just seemed there was not enough room for everybody to be comfortable. Perhaps a sit down breakfast would be best. The excursions were great and the guides were all very knowledgeable and open to answering questions. We liked that we had something to do every day and that the excursions didn't start too early. The motor coaches were very nice, too. We would recommend Avalon to our friends and family, and we are already talking about taking another river cruise in the future.
