Avalon offered an "adventure" cruise, and we thought that would attract a more active, younger demographic (which it did). We very much enjoyed the INCLUDED tours that were provided, but the EXTRA/PAID excursions off the ship were overpriced and a waste of money.....disappointing, and no need for them. We pre-booked two excursions which turned out to be unnecessary; the majority of the guests waited to book and waited to hear more details. We wish we had waited to book on the ship too as we would have opted out of the two tours we had pre-booked.
The food and food service was great; lots of variety of food options and deliciously prepared offering wine pairings from the different regions we were visiting....wonderful....! The entertainment at night was varied and fun.
Our cabin was TERRIFIC! We were on the second floor and had a sliding door which I personally spent a lot of time sitting in the room and looking out, so peaceful. There was plenty of storage space in the room too.
