I booked this cruise for my son's high school graduation present. We went on the Magic a few years back and had such a wonderful experience. We could not wait to get back on Carnival. However, unfortunately Carnival Horizon was a total disappointment. First, being a new ship, you would think that Carnival would have sought out the best of the best for this cruise. Most of the staff were not properly trained and unprepared to handle the magnitude of people on this ship. In the dining room, service was extremely slow. My family and I would wait over two hours to get our meals. If we needed or wanted anything, we always had to seek out a waiter. After the second time eating in the dining room, my family and I gave up and chose not to eat there the rest of the week. Second, the food was awful and bland. The buffet had the same menu each day, no variety. The only suitable food was Guy's Burger Joint, but who wants to eat a cheeseburger everyday. Thirdly, our itinerary changed, omitting Grand Turk, due to a medical emergency on board. I am pleased that Carnival made an effort to get this individual to land. However, I am disappointed that Carnival did not offer any compensation back to all cruisers on board. I ended up spending more money out of pocket due to this change. My family and I were planning on having a beach day at the port in Grand Turk, however, since we did not get to go to Grand Turk, I had to book an excursion in Puerto Rico for my beach day. In addition, my main reason for booking this cruise was to visit Grand Turk. They did give a 20% off a future cruise, which I will not be using. Forth, ship was way too overcrowded. Lines everywhere and long wait times to do anything on board. Average wait for Pizza or sandwich was 30-45 minutes. Fifth, walls are very thin. We had a screaming toddler next to us that kept us up most of the night. We went to customer care and they offered a room on a different floor that could accommodate two out of the three of us. Staff said one person could stay in the room. Carnival should leave a block of rooms on each cruise to better accommodate for unforeseen circumstances. Lastly, entertainment was lacking. Not many good options to keep families entertained. If you are looking for a great and fun vacation, do not choose this ship! Look elsewhere!

Our cabin steward was very good. Kept our room very clean and made sure that we had everything we needed.
