If you value your health and life, DON'T TRAVEL ON THE ROTTERDAM! We began our 12-day cruise with two meals aboard the Rotterdam--lunch after boarding and dinner after sailing. I noticed the extreme saltiness in both meals and by bedtime, even on the first day, I could not sleep--from heart palpitations and sweating.

My husband, who already suffered from high blood pressure, ended up in the doctor's office a day and a half later suffering from dizziness and extreme high blood pressure. The ship's doctor documented how salty ship's food can contribute to this condition. There was no other situation that could have caused this.

We complained to 4 different chefs and the maitre'd that their food was just too salty. The only way they could think to assist us was to suggest we order our food one day earlier than our actual meal time. This seemed ridiculous to us, because we would be boxed into ordering meals we may not feel like eating the next day. Never did they admit that the problem originated in the kitchen and not in our palates. (We consulted with many other passengers, who also corroborated that the food was just too salty.)
