We have been cruising for several years and have experienced more than 50 cruises in different companies. We hold 3 star status in Holland America with more than 100 days at sea. More likely will never again travel with Holland America. After a terrible embarcation day (waiting almost three hours in line in Fort Lauderdale and not getting our bags until past dinner time. Additionally there was no A/C in the cabin and the safe was closed and not available for anybody in the ship for more than 2 days. We were told that the ship had just been refurbished in the Bahamas and some "details" were incomplete. Well, among the incomplete details were the facts that 3 out of 4 elevators in the mid ship area did not work for the entire lenght of the cruise. Instead of A/C we got a fan. Many other passengers complained of problems with the toilets, leaks and sewage smell. The staff was overwhelmed and definite undestaff. In the Dining room our server had to attend 28 guests. Obviously dinner took more than 2 hours and we were late or couldn't see the shows. But, because in general the entertainment was lausy, nothing good was missed. Food quality was not to the standards of a "signature of excellence" and for the holidays there was nothing special. Practically no decorations, no festivities, nothing exciting and the worse cruise director in any cruise. Terrible and conflicting schedulling of the few activities. Dissapointing holiday cruise for many passengers.
