This cruise seemed like a good idea because of I ts destinations, Catalina and Ensenada and it was. Catalina is a beautiful little island and you must visit the Avalon casino. Ensenada was fun, too. I am not a fan of the “everything has to be fun, fun, fun”type of cruise. However, I noticed that this was a great cruise for families and younger people. There are a lot of activities that include children. I have sailed on two of the other brands under the Carnival umbrella but I have been consistently impressed with the quality of the food on the Carnival ships.

The staff are the real stars! How they can be consistently pleasant and helpful when they have been repeating the same cruise over and over again is a credit to all of them. There were only a few areas where my expectations were not quite met. This is an older ship and there is no heat in the rooms. Granted, the destinations are usually warm but there are some cool days on the ocean. You can open or close the vent in the ceiling but it is not easy to reach. The other thing that I wish they would change is not to hold the trivia games in the bar that also allows smoking. Although I say that I’m not a huge fan of Carnival cruises this was my third one. The third time was the charm and the fact that I was cruising with more people from the West Coast may have contributed to an overall enjoyable experience.
