We returned just a few days ago from the Star’s first post-drydock cruise, a late December/early January holiday extravaganza. Overall, the cruise was very enjoyable and the ship’s crew really went out of their way to create a festive holiday atmosphere.
Food was outstanding in the regular (free) dinner venues and very good in the Horizon Court buffet. The free pizza and ice cream by the pool were also very good. We felt no need to go to the specialty dining rooms. We had anytime dining, and there was no wait if we showed up before 5:30 at the Capri dining room or after 7:00 at the Portofino.
The ship was ship-shape and everything was clean and worked just fine. The new beds were particularly comfortable. The only items we noticed that were in poor condition were the deck chair cushions on the Promenade deck. They probably just hadn’t gotten around to replacing them yet.
Excellent location. Everything worked just fine. Plenty of room for clothing, etc.
