This cruise served as a great get away. The Star Princess staff and crew were top-notch, friendly and warm welcoming to us. The food and entertainment were exceptional. We were, however, bombarded with constant ads from Effy and the Park West Auctions. Princess can save tons of paper and trees by posting these events in their daily Patter. Passengers need to be warned about the art auctions. We did not sign any paperwork for a raffle won, which, in fact, cost a mere $35.00 for their shipping costs. When we discovered a charge placed on our account as we were leaving the ship ( it wasn't posted two days earlier), we confronted the art auction sales team and asked them to remove the charge (they promised to do this two days earlier). They said we had signed for the "free" art work; the truth of the matter they could not locate any signed documents. They insisted we take the "free" artwork but we refused. Passenger beware of any art auctions held on the Princess ships. Otherwise, we enjoyed a great Captain, a great Cruise Director and a wonderful Christmas/New Years cruise to Hawaii.
Steward was fanastic; horrible smell for the first five days. Guest Services persons were wonderful in attempting to fix the problem; needed to sleep with the balcony door open the first five nights. Smell in cabin disappeared after the fifth night. Very quiet floor on the ship.
