It is just the two of us and we love to cruise at Christmas. We like to be exposed to families with children and enjoyed many that we had a chance to interact with. Last year we sailed on the Divina and we loved it. We decided in July to try the new MSC Seaside and booked our Aurea Experience cruise.
Included in our experience was the classic drink package,(all drinks except premium) a massage (we booked a couples massage, which was great,) "My choice" dining and access to private sunbathing and whirlpools on Deck 19. Having access to a private deck was great. You didn't need to take your towel from room and could ask for as many towels as you needed upon arrival to the deck. We also enjoyed expedited processes for both boarding and leaving the ship.
Bar service was adequate, but not a frequent as I would have liked. It seems as if the bartenders were instructed not to take drink orders and you had to wait at the bar for a bar server, who was also waiting on tables, to take your order. Very frustrating.
Cabin Review
Cabin Aurea
Extended balcony with two chairs and two chase lounges. Very nice. Unfortunately we were on the starboard side, which allowed smoking in the outdoor Deck 8 spaces; at times, smoke drifted up to balcony. Bed comfortable, with adequate bedding. Storage space tight. Sliding closet doors; one fell off the second day, luckily it didn't fall on my foot. It took them 3 days to fix the door. Leaned it up against the wall in the room. The closet actually worked better with only one door instead of two. Had to keep suitcases on the sofa, since not all clothes fit in closet and it was just the two of us. Cabin service was good. Ordered room service every morning and it arrived on time. The last night, we never received service or our bill. Had to ask for it in the morning. Phone never actually worked. Our cabin server could not understand English well enough to help us with the phone. No phone directory in room with a list of numbers.
