This was my fourth cruise and first out of New Orleans. The Port was great and even has a river walk outlet mall next to it. It was great to spend a night on Bourbon St. prior to the cruise. Getting on and off was great. Both ports were fun, the comedians were awesome, the shows were really good and the magician Mark Bennick was great as well. The food was consistent with the other Carnival cruise we were on in 2017. It is above average cuisine. the Iguana taco stand and Guy's Burger joint are both very good. We did experience a few issues with our cabin, but nothing that would sway a person from coming on another cruise (a/c issue, remote not working). My only wish would be that Carnival would empower their employees slightly more. Simple things like you can get a burrito with shrimp, but not tacos. It's right there, just substitute it. There were plenty of chairs around this boat in the sun, multiple pools to choose from, and never a long wait for anything. My only serious complaint was that the Rome Theater was absolutely freezing at all times, almost left shows because of this as others did. Of course this boat isn't brand new, but that reflects in the price you pay. I was surprised with how fast the elevators are, you never hear that. Overall I thought the upkeep was fine and there were tons of things to do. I would happily go on this entire vacation a second time for the price I paid.

We were told we would hear lots of engine noise from past reviews. There was only once or twice were things got really loud and shaking, we were not certain what caused that. We joked that the old boat was breaking down, but she was great. Convenient location to get up to the bars and buffet. Fast elevators on this boat make for quick commute.

Port Reviews

New Orleans

Nice to spend a night on Bourbon first. There is a nice outlet mall just next to the port for lunch

Progreso

Not exactly a tourist area. It is a little more raw. it was fun to have a cute dog that stayed under my chair all day. I named her Julia and we became friends. She wasn't interested in the water i offered her. Probably a tequila drinker.
