I was told that Silversea was highly rated and somewhat luxurious. We picked this cruise because the itinerary sounded interesting. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly-and quickly. We had paid for an escort and van to take us to the airport to return to the US and that was extremely helpful. The average age on this particular cruise was about 75 and there were no children. There is no central elaborate receiving area, public rooms are just average , excursions are poorly managed and entertainment is almost non existent. . However, after paying such a high price for this cruise, they offered an exercise class and wanted to charge an additional fee- are you kidding?. The food was above average and I would say the Le Dam restaurant is worth the extra surcharge. Although it is all inclusive, not many wines were included in the fare and although it says gratuities are included, you still feel inclined to tip almost everyone who serves you.

We were disappointed with some of our shore excursions. The private cars and drivers are a great way to go but they are very expensive and I would speak to the guide before the tour begins telling him what you prefer- especially if you are not in the mood for hearing every detail of every piece of art in a museum- it could be tedious. Be careful what you sign up for as far as the excursions- some are not as described and activity levels are not represented clearly and not appropriate for some age groups.

We have travelled many other lines, and I would check out other cruise ships before I commit to Silversea.

Veranda Suite

Cabin VR

Cabin was ok- bathroom old and tired- especially the narrow shower and difficulty getting in and out. Our butler was excellent and always looking to help, as were the wait staff in the kitchen.
