We were treated like royalty on Silver Wind! Loved the graceful art-deco décor. Our terraced cabin was luxurious and included ample, intelligent storage space.
Four dining rooms, plus round-the-clock-room service and several bars and lounges, meant that we had incredible food and drink choices, particularly for a small ship. The dining and wines far exceeded our expectations. Incredible seafood and fresh fruits and vegetables.
There was plenty to do on board. We took advantage of the pool, hot tubs, and library. I indulged in a facial, and Rick tried out ping-pong and a putting contest. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment in the Parisian Lounge a couple of times. Well done!
We enjoyed exploring the gritty city of Civitavecchia on our own, getting slightly lost and seeing how real people live.
Beautiful city, but we were pressed for time. Next trip, I would allow for an extra travel day on each end of the trip.
We had a goal in mind to find a particular restaurant, which we had read still served authentic food, cooked the old way. With help from friendly locals and a lot of hand signals, we finally found it and had a leisurely outdoor lunch: plenty of local red wine in a jug and served in juice glasses, olives, and stuffed cabbage. Wonderful!
We found the hole-in-the-wall "secret" Buza bar, with breathtaking views. Not to be confused with the high-priced large Buza bar, which we also sampled. Next stop was Sibenik in Croatia where we had a cruise-arranged excursion to the interior national park, including waterfalls and wild cyclamen. Beautiful!
Incredible, and incredibly crowded. Next time, I will research a specific quadrant to explore, perhaps off the beaten path. Enjoyed the Peggy Guggenheim and a sidewalk café.
