We are a couple in our mid-50s, veterans of cruising on multiple lines. We took this cruise as both a quick getaway from stressful jobs and splurging on our 31st wedding anniversary. We live locally so getting to the port was easy. We arrived very early since we had booked an Owner's Suite. Parking in the Royal Caribbean terminal at Port Canaveral is very convenient, though expensive.

Other than the back-to-back cruisers, we were the first on the ship. I was hoping that being in a suite would have allowed us into our room sooner than others, but not so. So we wandered around the ship and finally went to the Windjammer for lunch. We had wanted to eat at Compass Deli, but for some reason it opens a half hour later than Windjammer. It was one of two times we ate in Windjammer (disembark breakfast was the other). I like that there are food stations to allow movement and we never had a problem finding seats. The food was ok, but nothing to get excited about.

We finally were allowed into our room at 1:00 PM at the same time as all other cruisers...a bit disappointing. We stayed in Owner's suite room 1020. The room was very spacious with enough storage for 10 getaway weekends. There was one irritating quirk of this room. It has a large walk-in closet but there is a post in the middle of the closet that doesn't allow the door to open fully. It makes it very difficult to get to the back set of hangers and makes it feel very cramped. The balcony was great with two padded loungers as well as two chairs and a table. The bathroom had something I have never seen on a cruise ship- an actual flush toilet as opposed to a vacuum one. The bathroom was equipped with a full bathtub/shower as well. One thing to note is that if you are taller than 6 feet, be prepared to have to lean over to shower. Overall the room was beautiful and we were very happy with the accommodations...with one major exception. The room is below the Windjammer and the noise from above was constant throughout the night and early morning with heavy wheeled carts rolling and chairs being moved. If you have any sensitivity to noise at all, avoid this cabin at all costs. Given that it is the 2nd most expensive cabin on the ship, you would hope there was more thought given to the comfort of the people paying for it.

Port Reviews

Nassau

As always, I could live without going to Nassau. It's a wasted port stop to me.
