This was my first cruise so I have nothing to compare it to, but overall it was a good experience. I went with my daughter and two teenage grandchildren. They met kids their age at the meet and greet for teens and have some new friends now. We went to several shows and they were all good. We had early dining (6:00 PM) and were able to get to shows after dinner. We aren't much on buffets because too many kids (and adults) touch food and then put it back or use their own spoon to taste something. We opted to go to the dining room for breakfast/brunch instead. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and they take good care of it. I would agree with other reviews that I have read, that colors are a little outdated, but I can't imagine that they can afford to change colors with the times. You have the same servers each night as long as you are going to scheduled early or late dining. That is a plus because they remember your names and always seem to be happy to see you. There was a delightful magician that came to our table most nights and he was excellent. The Cowboy comedian and Scotty K were also both excellent. We got off the ship at both ports.

Cozumel was wonderful. we didn't buy the excursion package from the ship (too expensive). When we got past all the people selling things there are several companies that offer trips. The four of us paid $30.00 each and went to Buccanos Resort. The driver takes you in a clean air conditioned van, maybe a 10-15 minute ride. The $30 includes snorkeling. There is a pool, sandy beach, hammocks, bar with good food and the driver stays there with you so you don't have to worry about getting back to the ship late. We were back long before 4:00. The next day we stopped in Progresso. We were stupid and took the free bus along with many others from the ship and then when you get there you can buy excursions. We bought the $9 each excursion for a 45 minute tour of the most depressed area I have ever been in. To be honest I was afraid. Not so much for myself, but for my grandkids. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE!!! Carnival needs to skip that port. Also, my daughter purchased the Faster to the Fun package that assures you don't have to wait in the long lines to get on the ship or off when the ship returns to port. Worth every penny!!! Also the Carnival Hub app for your phone is well worth it. You can keep in contact with everyone in your party after you all load the app. People watching is fun. Especially the people that think all that free food should be eaten in piles and piles all at one time. They say the average weight gain for a five day cruise is 14 pounds. Don't overdue the food!! We didn't and enjoyed the food we did eat. If you go, enjoy it!! And I hope you have wonderful weather like we did.
