First river cruise and first time with Viking. Trip was great. Be prepared to move along quickly; lots of walking. Staff on ship were wonderful; cruise through the Three Gorges area was awesome. Had a great tour guide that stayed with us the entire trip. His knowledge and willingness to talk about the culture and history added to much to the whole experience. Would love to go to China again. Food both on ship and during land portion was excellent . Added treat when we were able to unexpectedly visit a zoo prior to boarding the ship; saw many Pandas including 2 babies. Downside is the air and water pollution which is pretty much everywhere. Problems with air conditioning in one hotel which were beyond control of tour guides. Rooms in hotels were well appointed and in areas where you could walk. Ended up purchasing a extra suitcase in Shanghai to bring home purchases. Enjoyed the extension in Shanghai.
