Legend of the Seas 6-25 to 7-7-2009 Eastern Mediterranean Cruise - Rome, Naples, Athens, Myconos, Rhodes, Kusadasi, Alexandria and Corfu . We spend 3 days in Rome before our cruise started. My husband and 20 year old Son. Also our friends traveled with us with their 2 daughters 18 and 21. Our Driver Angelo picked us up at our Hotel Piazza di Spagna promptly at 11:00 AM. We arrived at the Port around 12:30 PM, embarkation went very smooth, no lines. We had to give our Passport to the Cruise line to keep till the day before our stop in Egypt. We received a receipt for the Passport. We were given our Passports back the day before Egypt, because Egypt Authorities require that you carry your Passport. As we were leaving the Ship in Egypt an Egyptian Authority checked our Passport with the Tour Ticket. I had made copies of our Passports so I was able to carry that with me at the other Ports . The Ship was very clean and still looked pretty good for being older. You could see that she had some wear and tear where passengers were not kind to her, we had a JS 8046. Very comfortable Cabin. Some nights it seemed like the A/C did not cool properly . Our Cabin Steward greeted us as soon as we were able to get to our Cabin, his name was Liu. He checked if we wanted extra pillows and when we would prefer ice delivered to the cabin. I asked if you could get us an extra pad for the Sofa bed, since that mattress is pretty thin. He was able to find one and had it on the Sofa Bed nightly. He was so quick with the daily making up the room every morning, by the time we finished breakfast it was done. He definitely was a super Cabin Steward .We had 2nd seating Dinner, and I am glad we did not do the Anytime Dining or I would have never met the wonderful Waiter Nikolina. She knew our name from day one, she was EXCELLENT, food was always hot and delicious. It defiantly was a differed Menu then in the Caribbean. The portions were big and the selection was great. The Windjammer was about the same as in the Caribbean. On the last sea day we were invited to a Lunch with the Officers, (that was for Diamond and Diamond +). It had a special Menu, it was very nice, I had the Filet. It was very very good, they also served Wine. It made us feel appreciated and that RC cares about their guests. The whole crew on this ship was extremely nice, helpful and friendly. When they had my sea card they would always look at the name and say my name, like when you got back on board "Welcome home Ms Name" Entertainment was borring, I did not like their production shows, I have seen better on their other ships. Even the CD was by a scale of 1 to 5 I would say 2. First stop Naples: we had hired a private tour company to pick us up and take us to the Amalfi area and to Pompeii, for there we had requested a guide to take us thru Pompeii. She was excellent, the 2 hours went so quick. We stopped in Positano and Sorrento. We choose a Ferries ride back to Naples . Athens there also we hired a private driver to take us around for the day. Myconos my husband and Son each rented a Scooter and I was able to shop and browse the shops in peace and quiet without them looking bored. We met back up by the Tender pier and boarded the ship together. They had a blast with the scooter . In Rhodes we just walked around Old Town, saw the Knights Palace and strolled the streets, had lunch at a Restaurant and later an ice coffee, of course did a little more shopping . Kusadasi of course we did Ephesus with the Terrace houses; we had hired a private guide there also. We also drove to the town of Sirince, I actually was a little disappointed in that town, but I did buy a bottle of Cherry wine and Blueberry wine, and I was able to bring the wine home safely and in one piece. We also went to Mary's House and saw Artimis Temple or what's left of it. We stopped at a store to buy some Turkish Delights and we were talked into going to a carpet place. We told the guide we are not interested in buying a carpet but she led us belief that it was a place where they show you from the silk worm to the finished carpet how carpets are made, no sales pitch. Wrong. But overall it was a great day. I loved the Terrace Houses. In Egypt we chose a tour with the Cruise Line, since the Pyramids are 2-1/2 hours from the ship, that was just to far for me to take a chance with a private guide. I was glad to see the Pyramids, it definitely was interesting. The vendors there are annoying they distract from viewing the sites, everything they sell seams to be $1.00 until you are interested then it goes up. There really was not much time we spend at each sites, but my husband and Son rode a camel that was arranged with the tour guide. They smelled too bad for me. We also had lunch at the Meridian Hotel in Cairo; the food of what I ate was OK. I was just to grossed out about the town that I could not eat to much. I could handle to go without food for a day, since I had not missed one meal since I stepped food on the ship. I defiantly sanitized my hands constantly. My husband thought I may not have any skin left on my hands after the day in Cairo with all the sanitizing. I was glad I saw the Pyramids and that it was on a cruise so I can leave after a day, I would never go and stay there for a week. I never have the urge to back there again . In Corfu we rented a car, it was waiting for us at the Port, we had a short time in this Port and I wish we would had longer there. We saw Achillion Palace and we drove over to Paleo?????, we did a Banana Boat ride and also took a Boat ride to view the Grottos. The water there was crystal clear and ice cold .. Overall it was a fantastic cruise.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

The location was great, it is just under the Solarium area entrance, so there was no noice. Small Closet for a JS. It is mid ship more to the back - great location.
