The ship, physically, was in pretty good shape...decent sized rooms, great thick carpeting in the common areas and well decorated throughout.  And the front line service folks were generally outstanding...but after traveling mostly on Carnival, we expected Royal Carribean to be a step up...it wasn't, and several days into the trip, we were wishing we were on a Carnival boat instead...here is what frustrated us:1.   The food was the most average and bland selection that we had encountered on any ship.  And no high end stuff (no lobster, filet, etc.) despite the price.2.   The entertainment was real hit and miss...several tribute artists were outstanding (a Celine Dion and an Elton John performer), but others were really bad in comparison to other cruises...comediennes who just were not funny, a juggler who dropped almost as much as he caught and and very dull in-house shows.3.   No late night entertainment...just go to the club and dance...that's yer entertainment!  Seriously, no comediennes, no late night performances...just club and lounge.4.   One midnight buffet on a 12-night cruise...not that I want to eat late every night, but I felt ripped off that I wasn't given the option, especially when that is a standard every night on Carnival.5.   Most all activities run by the cruise director's staff started late.  6.   They had this weird process of closing entrances into the buffet...instead of both doors being open at all times, only one side would be open.  Now all ships close off seating areas and sometimes serving lines at various times, but never have I been on the ship where they kept closing one of the doors...and there seemed to be no logic to it.  As an example, they might close the left buffet line and seating area....so you would expect the left door to be closed too...nah, the right door...???!7.   The ice machine was either not working or out of ice almost every single day at the buffet.8.   The AC unit was not working properly in our cabin for the first three nights...so hot it was difficult to sleep.  We had to keep calling down, and they never did send anyone until I personally went to the pursar's desk to complain.9.   There must have been a bigger problem as afterwards we couldn't get rid of the maintenance people in our hallway as they tore ceiling panels down and worked on something for about 5 days straight...meanwhile I heard from other cabins that they had flooding and mildew smells coming from their carpeting.10.  The shopping guy (who also gives you the tour information on this ship) is particularly annoying and deceptive on this ship.  He is constantly trying to frighten people that if they don't book right now, every good tour will sell out...they don't!  They just keep adding busses as needed.  He also said the walk from the port to the town in Corfu at least a half hour and into bad parts of town...not even close, although were suckered on that and bought their $10 Royal Carribean bus ticket into town, later realizing that we had almost walked most of the way back to ship just wandering through town (no bad areas) and that the walk would have been about 15 minutes.  Athens was the worst rip-off...they will sell you a round trip bus ticket to the center of town for $59 (and then you have to take a metro train to the Acropolis from there)....and leave out the fact that the train station is a (safe) 20 minute walk from the port and you can get a metro train, take it directly 4 stops and be at the Acroplis for $0.75 each way.  (I had been to Athens before and knew this...wouldn't have known otherwise)  This one left a really bad taste in my mouth about Royal Carribean in general...In short, we noticed a Celebrity ship seemed to be on a similar itinerary, and we would reccommend strongly to everyone to look at that line instead...we've had GREAT experiences on Celebrity, and should have taken them on this trip, but wanted to try something different...bad move on our part!
