Sail Date: Aug 2016

We took a tour through China which included a cruise on the Yangtze River for 6 days. The entire trip was amazing! Each day was a new adventure. We were served wonderful food from each region we were in (although some people chose the American food choices) and made great new friends. Our tour guide, Duan, was so informative, interesting and fun, and led us through time in his stories.

Definitely the highlights of the trip were the three things I've always dreamed of seeing: The Great Wall (I still have trouble believing I was actually there!), the Terracotta Warriors (which I've wanted to see since high school in the 70's) and sailing through the three gorges (an absolutely breathtaking experience I wish to repeat in the future). But the trip was so much more than that. We visited a Jade factory, a Silk factory, the Emperor's throne, we even visited a school wherein the children put on a show for us and we toured their classrooms. Even saying all of this, I'm only touching the tip of the iceberg. We saw cultural shows that floored us, markets that thrilled us, and modern architecture that made our jaws drop. Each and every day was an amazing experience. On the ship, we were able to have dresses (and other clothing) made for us, pearl jewelry or paintings made for very fair and reasonable prices.

We were truly treated like royalty and I believe we got to see a lot of the culture and geography of this ancient and enthralling country and I can't wait for my return.

Cabin Review

Cabin lowest

I thought our cabin was fine. It did have a musty smell, probably due to having carpet in such a humid area. I would recommend taking the carpet out. Other passengers were complaining about this, but I thought it was great - I'd never been on another cruise to compare it to. It was also very roomy. I was surprised by the size - just like a hotel room.

The bathroom had lots of space to put toiletries, and we always had hot water. It was kept very clean, and when we asked for a small table for the deck, we got one right away.
