As first time cruisers and my wife in particular not 100% behind the idea, we decided on a 7 night taster around Italy and touching Dubrovnik. P&O were recommended to me by family and friends and we selected Oceana as it was the only ship sailing out of a port away from Southampton meaning less sea days. I admit to being a little worried having read some of the reviews, however having experienced Oceana without wishing to disrespect other, probably more experienced cruisers than us I find it impossible to imagine they were on the same ship as us. EVERYTHING from embarkation to disembarkation was in my view perfect.

The cabin had everything we needed. We only had a standard inside cabin, however it was perfectly adequate with plenty of space for storage and a lovely comfy bed. The shower was brilliant, easily controllable and powerful. The food was amazing with something to suit everyone's taste. We had freedom dining and were fortunate enough to meet some fabulous shipmates across the week. I was relieved not to come across the cruise snobbery I was warned could befall us. The 'James Bond' nights were fab particularly the Captain's Gala Dinner. Every crew member on this ship seems committed to making sure you are looked after and that you have a great time. They work so hard in the bars and restaurants and the cabin stewards are just amazing. Special mention to our steward Efigenie. What a lovely, lovely lady.

The entertainment team don't stop and I personally loved the in your face Britishness of the Great British Sailaway. I don't care if some snobby types think it's a bit "holiday camp". You're on holiday for gods sake....lighten up. The shows were great including the Bruno Mars tribute, Fogwell Flax (what a great voice range), Roy Locke a fine West End and Opera singer and of course the ships own Headliners troop.

Cabin Review

Inside Twin with Shower

Cabin OB

Absolutely fine for us. Limited space as you would expect. Tea and coffee making facilities. Pamper pack on arrival. Full cabin steward service. One of the most comfortable beds I have slept in.
