We chose Norweigan as we had been assured it was the best one to cruise the inside passage to Alaska. This was our first with them but our 5th cruise. The ship itself was clean & average.

Our cabin was fine but a couple of minor incidences where we were surprised as our experience on prior cruises was the room stewards were exceptional. There was twice when he thought the room had been made up when it hadn't and the last night our bed was not turned town etc. We believe this is because the ship is understaffed.

As for dining we experienced some VERY unacceptable service and food. Most of the meals in the Seven Seas were good and service was good except for one time when the waiter actually argued with my husband and was extremely rude. Also, you have to be very specific when ordering ie: if you want hashbrowns or more than on toast etc. It was very apparent he did not want to be there. As for the upgraded meal package, don't bother. You pay an extra $27. a night for gratuity on top of the $13.50 a day you are automatically charged. We ate at Teppanyaka the first night and the food was good, not excellent but then they actually requested an additional tip for Chef! We ate at Cagney Steak House twice. The first time was just OK, the second time TERRIBLE! The first time we ordered Filet. Mine, the 6 oz, was more like 4oz and actually had fat and gristle running through it I had to cut away. My husband got a good steak but cooked wrong. The service was slow and again we felt it was due to them being understaffed. The second night we ate there it took 30 minutes to just get our drinks and the only way we got them was to complain to the Matre'd. He brought them but the wrong one and then he disappeared. It was total chaos and the table next to us had to go get there own drinks, There were 4 tables around us upset over service. We had told them when we came in we were going to show in hour and half. We finally had to leave without eating as our food was not served in that time frame! Believe me this is not a very big dining room. On our way out I chased down the Matre'd and complained. We ended up eating a cold port steak and wedge potatoes at 10:30 off buffet.
