We have cruised twice previously with Princess and took the whole family on Oasis when Royal offered the kids cruise free deal. The kids loved it, there was so much to do they did not even make it to the kids club. We spent a lot of time on the carousel, in the kids pool area (and the frozen yogurt machine), and meeting the characters. While the service is much better on Princess, the food on both lines were comparable, and very good.

Royal wins for kids activities, however. The DreamWorks parade is a can't miss! We have nut allergies in our family as well and Royal made navigating the food much easier than Princess ever did, that was a relief and took the stress out of meals.

The shows were amazing, the kids were captivated, especially at the water show. Navigating such a big ship was easy with their interactive screens. It was a wonderful week, but I feel like we didn't relax because there was so much to do.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Pretty standard cruise ship cabin, the cabin attendant, George, was fantastic.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

Nothing special about St. Thomas, for the most part the beaches are not beautiful. The group of us hired a local guy at the port who had a large open touring truck. He was wonderful and full of information. We saw a lot of the island and had a great time.

St. Maarten

We took the water taxi across the bay to the beach and rented two chairs from one of the least aggressive guys (which is difficult, some of them will not leave you alone). The further you walk, the cheaper it gets. Make sure you rent from someone who has newer chairs. The kids loved floating in the super salty ocean. It was a great beach day. Others in our group went on a tour of the island and shopping, we do not regret relaxing and playing on the beach.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

At the beginning, the herding of the passengers towards the check-in area was very chaotic, but once inside the terminal, check-in was very easy.
