This was my seventh cruise with Norwegian, my first on the Norwegian Sun. I traveled with my young adult daughter. It was her first cruise.
We stayed at the NCL reserved Holiday Inn in Vancouver the night before. Though everyone was very nice, the hotel was a bit dark and dreary, and over priced when compared with the Holiday Inn Express not far from there. The attached pub had adequate and overpriced food. Our bus was sent to the airport on our way to the ship, truly not fair to us. We did eventually get to the pier, though we were not given any tour type monologue along the way.
At the pier; the lines moved quickly and as an upper Lattitudes member, mine were quite short. We were ushered directly to La Cucina for lunch. When our room was ready, we went to our cabin. I was shocked at all the space we had. It, as a balcony, truly felt bigger than a mini-suite on a Jewell class ship. The muster drill was outside, under our lifeboat; we had to stand lined up like sardines for at least a half an hour. That was not pleasant, however it was the first time i have had a sense of which lifeboat i would be on.
The balcony cabin was wheel chair accessible and very spacious. The blinking door bell and phone were a nice touch for those who needed them. The bathroom was accessible though sometimes it was difficult to keep it dry while taking a shower. I would have liked a pull down grab bar by the toilet, but the provided bars were enough to get up and down.
