It seems I've been on ships all my life. As a child I did transatlantic crossings with my parents aboard such ships as Queen Mary, Queen Elisabeth, SS United State and Stockholm as well as New York to Australia 8 times aboard QEII. There are many more ships I could mention but the point of a Windstar review would be lost. What I'm saying is that I know the difference between OK and exceptional.
My wife and I decided to see if the many wonderful reviews we had read about cruises on Windstar ships were factual and decided to see what Windstar had done with the Seaborne Pride. The Seaborne Pride and I are old friends having sailed aboard here 5 times over the years before she joined the Windstar fleet. She has been one of my favorite ships since my first cruise on her in 1989.
We were not disappointed. The staff, crew members, food and accommodations were all exceptional. The attention to detail plus the warm friendly demeanor of the entire crew is getting hard to find these days on cruise ships. Looks like Windstar knows that.
One of the reasons for choosing to cruise on the Star Pride [besides itinerary for this cruise] was her accommodations which I rank as outstanding. Skip the big suites because the base 277 square foot cabins are perfect - unless you absolutely have to have a French balcony.
