We did a back to back cruise on the Carnival Conquest. We had not tried Carnival in 4 years. We picked our cruise based on the ports of call and what seemed like a variety of food choices on board. We had a good time..mostly because of the ports of call and it was vacation after all. After the last two weeks, we will not give Carnival another try. The variety of food options is a joke. The best food on board is hands down Guy's Burger Joint. These are great burgers and what we survived on for two weeks.
We went to the main dining room twice in fourteen days. One time it took over two hours to eat and I received my meal 10 minutes before my husband was finally served his meal. We ordered the same thing (Ribs) which were lets face it cooked well before served and no reason why my husbands plate would take that long to get to the table, as we did not make a special order or any changes. The other night we went to the main dining we were asked if we would like anything from the bar and we said no just tap water was fine. The waiter actually huffed at us.
The buffet upstairs has mostly the same thing everyday in all four areas. However ,they call the areas different names and rotate them so you get excited for new things. For example, they call one area comfort food. However, the food here is the same as next door and labeled Italian. The only Italian dish would be one type of pasta and a salad that maybe considered Italian.
