Fine cruise, clean ship

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Westerdam

My husband and I drove to Ft. Lauderdale and parked at the Park N Go. Good service and a great price. We arrived at the Port Everglades about 2pm and did not have too long a wait to go through the weaving line for check in. Check in was quick, rooms were ready and we headed for the Mariner Welcome party. Our room was a signature suite, 8th floor, and was spacious and well equipped. ...

We are 3 star mariners on HAL so have cruised on several of the HAL ships. We cruise about once or twice a year mostly on HAL and our second line of choice is RCI. It was just the 2 of us cruising, me and my DH. We were disappointed in the food selections in the Lido Buffet at dinner. We do not eat in the MDR anymore because we are not a fan of long dinner times (1-1/2 to 2 hours). There ...

We cruised on the Westerdam January 2, 2016, from Ft Lauderdale to Half Moon Cay, St Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turk. Our verandah room 5086 was close to the glass elevator mid ship which was nice. The room was fine on port side with only a small balcony which did have padded chairs and table. It was very quiet. The Westerdam has been updated with some of the new Koningsdam ...

Lots of issues, but cruise was still a lot of fun

I booked this cruise because of the rate I got for the Signature Suite. We have only sailed RCCL and it came down to this or the Anthem. However, after I was able to get a decent air fare, I chose HAL. I must say that as a first timer, I found the posts on Cruise Critic super helpful. Issues were several. Our cabin on deck 6 was in a good location, and luckily the closest smokers were ...

First time cruisers (my dear wife and myself) we read reviews, we did our research. Getting on and off the ship was an art, it was flawless and the airlines could learn a lot. The ship (though old) gave a great first impression and the first few days we were loving it, discussing what we'd like in a second cruise. By the later days the age of the ship and the quality of it's outfitting began to ...

We've been on the Westerdam five times since December 2013 all mostly the same itinerary! We love the ship and are very sorry to hear it will no longer be in the Caribbean in the winter. We cruise each December to get away from the cold Appalachian Mountain winters! As a treat we accepted the paid upgrade to a Neptune suite and we were not disappointed. The suite was very large (before we ...

We had not sailed on HAL since 2002. Our last two cruises were with Celebrity so we thought it was time to return to an old favorite. We loved our Signature Suite. Very large and comfortable. Our room stewards were great. The ship is getting a little worn and needs some refurbishments. We enjoyed the buffet especially the stir fries. The main dining room left us cold. Slow service, little ...

A friend and I cruised Dec. 12-19 from Ft. lauderdale to St. Thomas and back. I liked the ship. Service is friendly and the veranda cabin was well appointed. Have no real "complaints".......rather a few suggestions. Wish there were more programs of an informative nature on the culture, history, etc. of ports of call. Way too much emphasis on shopping. The food was fine......some nights ...

Over 30 years my husband and I have been on 13 cruises, this is the 4th with our kids. We have been on 6 cruise lines, and have tried to stay with ships that were newer at the time of each cruise, and have enjoyed mid-sized to large ships. Over the years we have had 2 interior rooms and the rest have been exterior most with balconies. This was our first Suite. This trip was a family trip and we ...

Dec 5-12, 2015, embarkation nothing out of the ordinary, saw NO no snacks or drinks. On board only 1 elevator working and created a large backup, only 1 Hal rep to point us in that direction. Room, deck 8 was so so, showing signs of wear, plug in bath has been disabled, thank you for thr 4 hangers in the closet, for a 7day cruise with 2 formal nights. Off to lunch Lido very crowded, go to dining ...
