We saved for a long time for this specific cruise because we wanted to go to Pomene. How disappointing.... For one we only left Dbn habour around 17:00 on the Monday. Then on Tuesday we were told that we will not be going to Pomene after all. We went to Portuguese Island...Numerous passengers were very disappointed. Some said it was not the first time that they booked for Pomene and never got to go Pomene. The general feeling on the ship was also that it felt very unorganised. The overall quality of the food was also not good. The buffet restaurant's food was the same every day. Only things that changed was the desserts. The entertainmemt during the day was also very poor. Our cabin was stunning. MSC's response to my e-mail was basically... sorry for you. You can cleary see that they are just in it for the money and can not care about the actual passengers. Read Less

I wanted to explore a different country, have fun, meet different people and get to know more of their culture. It was so exciting, I learned basic Mozambique language, I learned how to meet and greet, the food was delicious, the entertainment was fabulous. I had the best time of my life! The crew that I travelled with was very happy with the experience and the service. We got to see things we never thought we would see in our life time. The showers were too small, the toilets we're different compared to the one's that were used to, I was impressed! They should also enlarge the Jacuzzis they were too small. The lift clubs were an excellent service, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and their communication skills were on pointm Indeed Mozambique was the best destination we chose! I wish I could have stayed on the cruise for 3 months. Read Less

It was my first cruise and needed it to have an experience. Everything on the ship was great, something to really experience and the view of the sea is refreshing. Awesome entertainment and got the crowd interacting and the restaurants you get to meet people from different cultures and make memorable memories. Lounges are great and beautiful with good music. Their food was great and variety to choose from. Portuguese Island was an absolute stunner as it was my first time on an island and really enjoy the scenery, food, drinks and the waters was amazing and warm. An Island I will visit again and remember. It's best to book an "on easy board" as you will avoid the long wait to get onto the ship. The best is that the photographers are always ready to take a pic and they are everywhere to take a snap shot. Just that the photo's are expensive to buy. Read Less

Embarkation could’ve been better as we waited in a queue for 1h30min to just park the car as they only allowed it from 9. Then we came into the terminal and had taken Easy Onboard but had to still stand in a queue for an hour. The terminal was warm and had no air circulation coming in and the fact that there was over 2000 people inside did not help. I would suggest offering water at least. Eventually after an hour the doors opened and the Easy On Board queue was taken inside first (Would recommend this every time). So we went on board and wanted to go have a bite to eat as we where all starving after being hours in queues but to our disapointment it was’nt open. We where meant to leave the port by 16:00 but for some reason we stayed in port till 17:00(We assumed the fact that a lady got asked to leave the ship had something to do with that). Second day when we reveived our little news paper it clearly said Dress Code : Informal only to find out at the dinner table that we where under dressed for the occasion (that sucked as I had bought a new dress and beautiful shoes I wanted to wear to formal night) , must have been a typing error. The show that night was Incredible (WONDERLAND) the entertainment crew was the most amazing on the ship but your bar tenders and some waiters defnitely needs work, they are not friendly at all. The two couple’s that sat next to our table at diner received amazing service from their waiter but the only person that gave us amazing service was our assistant waiter. He defnitely needs a promotion to main waiter. Now we get to the Excursions. What a total let down, firstly I had book our Excursions before we embarked and had saved 20% which was all dandy until we where told that we are unfortunately unable to go to Pomene due to the weather , we went to the excursions desk and where told that all the money was refunded and that we had to re-book our excursions for Portuguese Island but when this was booked it was on the full price instead of our previous rate of 20% off, that is not cool MSC!!!!! We chose the Santa Maria snorkeling which was meant to be a 3hr Excursion (so this is where they catch you out) the boat from the Portuguese island to Inhaca Island takes approximately 15min , then you hop on a bakkie and the drive is a 30min drive ( very bumpy and uncomfortable) when you reach the snorkeling spot you get told that you can only snorkel for 30min before you have to go back! This is not worth the money and not worth us paying extra R500. We also booked the deal where you got Champaign, canapés and fruit in your room, we got that in our room but our family next to us had to call for theirs as they paid for it but did not recive it. Our bar fridge was also locked the whole week and on the last day our room steward came to unlock it only to write that we used water out of the fridge ( How do you use something that had been locked the whole time). We where on the Sinfonia last year and everything was excellent but service on the Musica needs work! Read Less

Me and my sister was on the MSC MUSICA with the Finesse group from 01-04 March 2019. The organising with regard to the embarkation and disembarkation was much better than the previous years and well organised. It went smooth and there was no long wait at all. The traffic in and outside the harbour also went fluent. Me and my sister was on the 14th floor and had a very nice room with a balcony. The was a sliding door to the balcony. The cabin was very clean and in well furnished. What was new for me being on the boat 3 times and my sister 5 times, was the tv, big mirror and fridge (stocked) with drinks and eats (for your own expense) in the cabin. The food was nice and a big variety the entire day. There was a lot of entertainment on the 13th deck and inside the ship such as karaoke, tennis, solarium, swimming pools, Jacuzzi's, a casino, chocolate shop, handbag shop, photo gallery, coffee shop, perfume den, tag heuer shop, beauty/hair- salon, lounges (tastefully decorated with colours and furniture), Swarovski shop etc... There is also beautiful Teatro theatre with shows with a theme every evening which is of high standard. The shows is approximately 45 minutes and the décor, lights, entertainment people and their attires is of the best standard and according to the theme during the shows. The servicing of the rooms was well maintained and we were welcomed by a helpful and friendly guy (part of your staff) on the 14th floor. Although one pay in dollar on the boat, it is worth the money that you pay for the cruise. I will definitely be back in 2020 if I can afford it. Read Less

Everything was amazing, however a few things could be looked at. The queues were too long during embarkation but they moved quite ok, one thing that could be improved especially at the port or boarder control would be ventilation. There was too much heat and lack of fresh air ventilating that area. On board we had such a smooth journey, everything was well organized and that made our vacation more pleasant than we'd have thought. From the delivery of our luggages to getting our cruise cards ready with all the necessary information. The cabins were fairly spacious and very comfortable, the housekeeping stuff was also on top of their game and did their work with such precision. The luxury of the ship, the different facilities available in it and all the entertainment convinced me and my friends to cruise more often and even take our families with next time. Although we couldn't proceed to Pomene as per initial itinerary, we appreciated the timely communication received regarding the fact that the weather wouldn't permit for the ship to go there and that it was done with so much respect and professionalism. Was Invited by a friend. Everything was spectacular. More than the first time. Our waiter only warm up to us the final night and the food was great. Love everything. I would only suggest that there would be gluten free options for me. I have celiac decease and cant tolerate gluten. The first night I ordered a steak and it was covered in flour. That was tje only meal I couldn't enjoy. The entertainment was out of this world. Perfect! The cabin was what I expected. Everything was clean. I got lost a couple of times... Well not actually got lost. I lost my friends. The ship is way too big to find someone. Lol I embarkation was extremely fast this time. My first time we waited what felt like forever. The disembarkation as well went smooth. My overall experience was totally out of this world. Will definitely go on a cruise next time my husband will join me. Read Less

Finesse Girls cruise 2019: We had a wonderful slow 2 day trip from hometown Jamestown in Eastern Cape via Bloemfontein to Durban; and afterwards a wonderful restive day in Durban, and another joyous 2 day trip from Durban via Bloemfontein back toe Jamestown. Embarkation & Embarkation went VERY smoothly. Cabin was small but sufficient. Ship is VERY big and comfortable shoes a MUST! Dining was out of this world - you can't have everything - choices MUST be made!!! Excursions not necessary, but if you want to experience everything : GO for it! A wide variety of Entertainment for every taste. Service was very good: we wanted to see the very front of the ship, and the gym instructor allowed us to go take a peek from the gym's windows. Everywhere we asked for help, everybody was so friendly and patient. I wish the cruise was longer - there were still so many things I wanted to explore, see & enjoy! Read Less

They was always something for them to do and they loved the music and entertainment Our cabin was clean and it was kept that way throughout the cruise, even the kids beds were made for them. My kids loved the food, i had the tastiest ice cream ever and the cocktails were the best. I am always so paranoid when traveling with the girls 7 and 11. But the crew were awesome with them friendly and the answered any question the girls had. They really enjoyed the service and the restaurant they were treated awesomely and they had the best food and desserts. The ship is well maintained and always clean. The embarkation and disembarkation went so smoothly. My luggage was well taken care of. We just got back and are already planning out next one. Read Less

it was an experience and I would like to take my whole family again on this worldly experience. The friendly crew makes you to feel welcome and at home. All the activities on the ship was such an experience one just needs to experience yourself. The service was excellent. I could not attend all the activities as there was too many and I have to go back to finish all others. The entertainment was the highlight of my trip as I am a person that likes to enjoy myself on the dance floor. I think 3 days was not enough for me to peruse through the entire ship. next time I would want to do more excursions compare to only Portuguese Islands. I have really enjoyed myself with my friends. There was a variety of food and we could just choose what ever we wanted. The service was good and I hope to see all the crew members again in the near future. Read Less

WOW AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I chose this cruise do to the fact that it was the "For Girls Only" with Finesse and needed the brake away Throughout the cruise all embarkation and disembarkation went well. Compliments to all the cruise members - well organised!!!!!! The fact that your photo is taken when you entry the ship and with every disembarkation and embarkation. In overall the ship, cabin, dining, food, drink all were excellent. The staff were all friendly through out the whole cruise and very helpful when you get loss, (which happen a lot). Having your photos taken is a big must and the best memories ever. You can pick and choose from the food and is suitable if you are on a diet as well. We enjoyed the Lounges and the life music and it was so relaxing. Overall it is a awesome experience to be on the cruise I am booking for next year!!!!!! Read Less

MSC Musica was highly recommended, but did not meet the standard. Cabin was dirty, food mediocre and the stuff not really friendly. The only thing that was good was the theater. The shows where brilliant. Otherwise overall it was a waste of money. I am bitter. I paid R12 600.00 but what I got was not worth that at all. I tried to upgrade but the room but the receptionist said that was not possible. I complained about the dirt but nothing was done. I had a balcony cabin but the balcony was dirty for the duration of my our stay. The last guest was a smoker and left a glass with cigarette stubs by the balcony and that glass was there for the duration of the stay. I got tickets for my brother and his wife as a wedding gift and they had a love time, so I was expecting the same only to get the horrendous sevice I got. I am vegan and there was no food. I tried to customize the vegetarian food but there was very limited options. This was a terrible cruise. I will never recommend it to my friends and family. The service is just not consistent. My brother got a great service and I got a bad service for more or less the same price. I am very disappointed and I feel cheated. Read Less

1st time on MSC and was disappointed, it was a cheesy experience. Things I liked: I liked my cabin it was spacious but you could have had a kettle with Tea/Coffee available. If I didn't book a balcony cabin I would have been really stuffed up. I enjoyed the island Things I disliked: Food was terrible, no taste mass production, the pizza was the worst The plates & cups were filthy. Free coffee at Buffet very bad It's Cheaper to buy Water & Coffee cash if you a none drinker than buying vouchers, vouchers are a rip-off. Toilets onboard were pathetic Onboard entertainment pathetic, Only two shows 7 pm & 9 pm nothing else to do during the day. The pools are a disgrace, very small & deep The games room pathetic hardly any games All in all, I tried it and I disliked the experience, I won't cruise local again maybe I would consider a much larger ship with better water activities This cruise is for old people and people just looking to get drunk and party. I heard about the cruise from a cousin who told me about the special that was running towards the end of 2018 and as a family we ended up going as a group of 15 cousins. The embarkation got off on a slow start because we were there on the scheduled time but after the bags were taken from us there was some delay and we never received information on why because the staff was there behind the counters but they were not serving us. From that point onwards the pace then steadied. Maybe in the future it would help to have more queue Marshall's because at one point it looked as if some people were cutting off the queues but in actual fact they knew that the 2 queues were going to the same point. The disembarkation went very smoothly. The use of elevators during peak times tested the patience of the most patient individuals. The ship is amazing and the time spent on it was not enough to explore all of its little treasures. The cabins were of acceptable size. The cabin staff was amazing, the cabins were kept neat. The dining rooms were well managed but a new strategy is needed for the management of the one on the 13th floor. The very first experience there was shocking because when we got on to the ship, the cabins were not ready and we went there for a meal. The queues were shockingly long and there were people who were done with their meal but were not prepared to vacate the tables which was really frustrating. The diversity of the menu was most welcomed as well as the continuous availability of snacking food. It can be recommended that fruits also be part of the snacking food as too much flour affects the digestive system. The entertainment was good and the welcome party was awesome, we even forgot that we were leaving dry land! We also enjoyed the stand up comedy. The available resources were sufficient to keep one entertained throughout the cruise. The staff was always available to offer information which was good. We will most definitely cherish the time we spent in the Portuguese Island and Pomene. It was really appreciated that the staff never ran out of ice! As we were getting back on to the ship from Pomene, the waves became a bit wild and that on its own was an adventure, it even made me consider doing the white water rafting! The staff was very calm and reassuring and that was really appreciated. Another awesome surprise for us were the cool face cloths as we were embarking from the ports. My family and I really had a great time and we would most certainly do it again! Read Less

The services on the ship are excellent. All staff are very helpful. Cleanliness is the order of the day on MSC Musica. The ship offers a variety of entertainment activities. The drawback however is that most of these activities close at 23:30. The dicso is too small to cater for the number of people. The two swimming pools are small for the number of people. Some of the bigger ships offer an ironing area where guests can iron their own clothing. My partner's dress was delayed which caused us to miss the first dinner sitting and the show which was hosted that night. The cabins on the 11th floor are very spacious and well laid out. The double beds are big and comfortable. The cabin also contains a comfortable sleeper couch. Dining on the MSC Musica is a pleasant experience. The restuarants are well appointed and the food is excellent. Breakfast was however a struggle to find seating space. Most of the staff are very good at what they do and made all passengers feel at home. Some of the staff are however new and experience language difficulties. I visited both Portuguese Island and Pomene. Disembarkation and return procedures were very well organised. I did not do additional excursions. I travelled with my partner without children. I am already planning my next excursion and would recommend MSC Cruises. Read Less

Pictures also are a WOW. I am becoming speechless. My mind is overwhelmed. The saxophone guy at the receptionist, eish. What else am I forgetting? Of course embarking was a little problem. No one imforms anyone about anything, we simply follow the queue yet I was 1st timer,I would not have know everything. Otherwise, goodness overpowered sadness. The plugs in the ship were not compatible to straighten up my suit. Theme,I wonder if I missed it at some point but I wish I was told earlier about what do I need to have on my clothes when I pack. Theater was also amazing though,I went 3 times. Pool deck was very smelly ,i could not cope. The bad part was, I was denied balls for soccer table. Sad story for me. But I still enjoyed. This was a 40th birthday gift from my husband and our first holiday together since our honeymoon. We have 2 small children and have been on the go non stop for the past 5 years. I was exhausted!! So it was great to spend time together, just the 2 of us again and fall in love all over again. Thank you. The cabin was clean and beautiful with a super comfy bed to take lots of naps!! The staff were incredible, not one bad experience or complaint. I take my hat off to them as they all work very very hard but always smile. A few negatives...I found the buffet quite overwhelming in that there were a great deal of people all the time, eating large amounts of food, and we were not aware that we could go and eat in the restaurants for breakfast. We ate in the restaurant once and were seated at a table with 8 other people that we did not know. We didn't feel comfortable and really wanted to spend the time with one another. So that led us to only eat at the buffet which wasn't always enjoyable. I also don't think it should be allowed for bottles of Whisky to be on sale so that people can walk around holding them and drink from. Although we didn't take our children with, many people did and I wouldn't like my children seeing that. I believe it was also one of these bottles that was used to break a pane of glass on deck 13. I also think the smoking area on deck 13 should be further away from the dining room, as when you walk out of the dining room, the smell of cigarette smoke is rather overwhelming. Getting off the ship wasn't a problem, but getting on was a very long and drawn out process. More x-ray machines and security should be available. The security checks going to shore and returning were quick, easy and professional. We went for the ocean safari at Pomene, but unfortunately didn't see a thing due to the direction of the current/wind, so that was rather disappointing but out of everyone's control. There were also a large amount of people all in one area on the islands, shouting and drinking, and it just didn't make for a pleasant or relaxing atmosphere, so we returned to the ship as soon as we had finished our excursions. Santa Maria was great fun, especially the drive to and from there, as well as 3 of the 4 vehicles breaking down - it just added to the entire experience. Lastly, the process of paying your bill and/or getting refunded needs to be explained better/clearer. There were queues all over the place and people didn't know where to go to pay. There also wasn't enough money to be refunded for some people. People didn't know they could pay their bill at the little machines with their cards (which are great for loading money onto your card - well done!!), so were standing in the queue's to get to the help desk. We needed to be refunded but didn't know we had to get a statement first - which was a different queue. So it was very chaotic with a great deal of irritated people around. If we had known there are "quieter" and less chaotic and crowded cruises available, we would have preferred one of those. We won't be going on another cruise for a very long time due to finances, however, we have some lovely memories, thank you. Loved getting to see Carvin Goldstone!! What a treat! Read Less

This was my first cruise but the friends I cruised with have all been before. I heard fabulous and exciting stories and the MSC Musica did not fail to disappoint. The ship itself is majestic to look at, we used to stare at the ship in awe when we used to ferry back after our days at Portuguese Islands and Pomene. The weather certainly worked in our favour and were fortunate enough to make the most of our days at both places. The balcony cabin was fantastic, always clean and neat, the bathroom was always stocked with fresh towels and our room was tidied to perfection by the housekeeping staff. The fresh fruit in the cabins were a nice homely touch. The hairdryer in the room proved to be a blessing for us 2 girls. I certainly enjoyed the nightly dinners, the menu each night was excellent and the waiters treated us very well. The entertainment side was incredible, by far my favourite as I enjoy live theater. This was certainly worth the package alone. Top quality shows with extremely talented people. The live bands and singers in the lounges were fantastic. There was so much to explore on the ship itself and we soon learnt to navigate through the floors using our handy map, going to the shops and the boutiques as well as taking advantage of the jewellery sales. The service overall was great and it was very exciting to meet staff who are from all over the world. I I will go back just for the Portuguese Island experience, the place is pure paradise. Blue skies, pristine water, a great variety of goods at the local market. Pomene was indeed another tropical place with a lovely market and friendly locals. The beach party vibe was incredible, everyone enjoying themselves and safely. We didn't book the excursions as we were enjoying being in the water too much! The only two gripes I would say: 1) I heard so much about the theme nights on board and I packed appropriately (Italian, tropical, retro etc.) but each day the program indicated casual dress, but my friends and I still dressed up as we were out to enjoy ourselves 2) We were looking forward to clubbing but we only got to enjoy an hour of music which everyone enjoyed until the music changed at midnight each night to accommodate one group of cruisers. I just felt it a bit unfair as there should be music to cover everybody tastes. Overall I had a fantastic first cruise experience and I would definitely book again, especially since the MSC Orchestra will be gracing our Durban shores in November this year. Thank you for a memorable holiday. Read Less

I chose this cruise as it was my husbands birthday which was spoilt by the staff at reception and lack of stock . The menu has 5 options and then you only have 1 available. Then you go to the bar and they only have 1 of three options available. We not talking about anything special we talking about champagne. Then we moved cabins because I paid for a non obstructed cabin and got an obstructed cabin. They told us they moving us now. 45 minutes later nobody came to the cabin. Then out of anger we phoned reception and told them to leave it as we cannot stay in our cabin waiting for them. Missing all the entertainment etc.. When we came back to our room at 11.15pm being tired as it was our first day and had to get up extremely early only to find our room emptied and no note informing us which new room to go to. We had to go to reception and then get the new key and empty the safe.... etc. Not once did someone around the pool area offer us drinks. Not once. I spent a lot of money at the shops and photos etc. I bought guess bags and presents for my husband(4.5L chivas regal besides other things) on the boat so it is not as if we were on the boat and not spending and giving back. We have been on the cruises 4 or 5 times. Why does everything not open when we are moored at the islands. Especially the spa. We paid for two pampers but the timing was always awkward as there is only certain times. The more the shops etc is open the more we spend which would be great for your benefit. I don't shop with the crowds like the last day. I shop daily during my cruise. The room cleaners are very helpful and always pleasant. If we book first sitting it is for a reason. I have a colon problem and cant eat late at night or else I get cramps and my stomach runs. First had to fight for that as well on the first day. This cruise really spoilt my husbands birthday and did not work out like it was supposed to. Very very disappointing. After our fourth or fifth time on the cruises we think this is our last. We were supposed to book with another two famalies at the end of the year of January next year but we told them we don't think we will be going. IT is their first time and we were supposed to show them around. We have always been on 4 nights or more to get the feel of the boat as we stay far. (In Port Elizabeth) . WE normally fly in the day before the cruise starts and also pay hotel fees and that is besides flights. We also have to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel and also from the hotel to the harbor and back to the airport which is a costly experience so therefore one expects Service and understanding from the staff. Very Very disappointing. Read Less

Had a fabulous time on board. Embarkation was very tiring especially for the kids. Once on board we enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. The cocktails where delicious as well. Only problem was standing in the long ques to get food and the nice stuff got finished too quickly. The kids enjoyed the kids club thoroughly especially the cooking and parade. Our room was clean and neat and had all that we required. The excursions was very enjoyable and very organised. Loved that everyone could go to the shore from young to old. The disembarkation was very quick and easy. There where too few planned entertainment and activities. The little kids where disappointed that they where not allowed in the disco. We where only disappointed that our suitcases where damaged and dented during our cruise. We would love to go again provided that there is more entertainment for adults, teenagers and kids. Read Less

This was our fourth cruise from Durban harbor and we did not explore the city this time as we did all the site seeing on a previous cruise. Embarkation and disembarkation went perfect, bit of queuing on embarkation but nothing to complain about. As we boarded the ship we could easily book our shore excursions with help from the friendly staff. The MSC Musica is a beautiful vessel, balcony cabin is spacious and was kept clean throughout our cruise by our room attendant. Linen and pillows are very comfortable. Always clean towels in the bathroom. The bathroom is a good size and the free shower gell and sjampoo was a great idea. Room service was a great spoilage and well organised as well. The fact that you can view you account on the TV is very thoughtful. The shows in the evening was spectacular. The costumes and the crew's enthusiasm was amazing. Activities on board was well organised and the shopping experience wonderful. The music in the lounges in the evening was excellent entertainment while having a cocktail. We bought the drink package and found it good value for money. Some cocktails was in a nice cocktail glass but some came in a really ugly glass that was not nice as you can see on my photo. The barman on my photo was the best and his cocktails was really nice. Dining in the lounges was well organised, food was excellent, our waiter was so friendly and really entertained us. Food/Fruit carving show was a nice treat. Our weather was great and the two island trips to Portuguese island and Pomene island was so well organised and the nice cold facecloth was a pleasant and very thoughtful surprise when we got back from the island. The excursion is a must do for all because the experience is worth it. There is no vacation like a MSC cruise. I book each time on a new vessel and are really looking forward to the MSC Orchestra. Thank you MSC from a very happy customer. Susan le Roux Read Less

Sailed with 15 ladies. My first experience, definitely not my last. I enjoyed every moment . I had plenty fun and also my quiet moments , whereby I just sat down and watch the chefs and waiters doing their appointed tasks , amazing -making all those dozens' of pizzas, salads , food , everything so detailed and seeing them doing it with such joy , made me appreciate life, food and my own job. Restaurants are amazing , food is of excellent good quality . I find the food (including , veggies , fruit and salads )to be very healthy, and tasty. the children clubs were also amazing, ( my grandson will definitely join me on the next cruise!)The youth entertainment was amazing, fun, energetic, I just had a ball joining in. The cruise rekindled that youthful, energetic, grateful feeling in myself . I also enjoyed the island visits, On the island-POMENE- my heart went out to the kids begging for food whist we had plenty to eat ( IT WAS A HUGE CHALLENGE ) Thanks to this cruise , I overcame my fear of sailing Much appreciated Will be back soon! God bless Read Less
