Bucket list item didn't disappoint

Cruising the Rhine and Danube was on our bucket list, and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire cruise. We have a lot of interest in World War II history, and the ports along the way offered insights that were very interesting to us. The beauty of the area we were cruising through was wonderful, as the Fall colors were just starting to appear. Watching as the castles and small villages went by was so ...

Great time on Viking Riverboat cruise

We chose Viking to do a riverboat cruise because our first experience on Viking was this last February on an ocean cruise from London up and down the Norwegian coast to see the northern lights. That cruise was spectacular, so we wanted to try a river cruise. The food and service were equally wonderful, and we are now avid fans of Viking! We went from Amsterdam to Budapest and saw beautiful ...

The cruise was everything we hoped it to be. The only hitch was the low level of water in the river system that had us leave our boat and go 50 - 60 miles on a buss to another boat that was on the other side of the shallow section. The people on that boat took a buss to our boat. We had the same room number on the new ship as our original ship. This was not Vikings fault and I think they handled ...

We were looking for a small ship, river tour in Europe and this Viking Cruise seemed to be ideal. I had always wanted to see the tulip gardens when they were in full bloom as well as to spend time in Amsterdam, Vienna and Budapest. (Although 2 days in each place is hardly enough time to do them justice, it was a good introduction!) We were pleased that there was no casino, no pressure to buy ...

Heaven on the Rhine (and Main and Danube……)

We chose this cruise because a) I wanted to be away for 2 weeks and b) the Rhine has been on the bucket list for ages. There were only 73 guests on board, not unusual for the first voyage of the season apparently. There were 4 Brits on board, including us, and 2 Canadians. The rest of the guests were American. Our fellow guests were a delight. They were interesting and interested in the ...

First let me tell you this was Passage to Eastern Europe. Our ship was supposed to be the Aegir, but was switched to the Embla at the last minute. This was our third Viking River Cruise having done the Rhine Getaway and the Romantic Danube. While on the Danube cruise, I asked our program director, George, which was his favorite cruise. He said Passage to Eastern Europe. Consequently, we booked ...

We arrived in Moscow 2 days early and were totally amazed at how clean the city was and how friendly all the people were. Our hotel in Moscow (Raddison) was like a palace. The food in the hotel was good also. We went to a local Ukranian restaurant and had a great time, the food was great, the waiters were fun and we felt like we knew everyone when we left. Shopping was also fun in Moscow. ...

We did our 1st River Cruise and it won't be the last. Awesome cruise from start to finish. The staff knew your name before the cruise ended. The food was amazing, and the chef will make you special food for those with allergies or lactose free. Every region you are in, the menu, wine and beer will change. The optional tours are well worth the money. Strauss Concert in Vienna was simply AMAZING. ...

An exciting Cruise to Great Cities

This was our 6th River Cruise on a Viking ship. We wanted to re-visit some of the cities in Germany and the Netherlands that we had been to previously. The Grand European Tour offered us just the right route. We loved the food on board the Longship - always a good variety and tasty options, and the "sit where you want to" policy suits us just fine. All of the other guests were well-traveled ...

Heard many great things from many past Viking Guests. Wanted to go to Europe , Germany etc, thought I would give Viking a try. Our first week we were on another ship, then midweek we had to transfer to another ship Due to the low water of the river. Really hated leaving the 1st ship. Loved the staff. The second ship the Embla was a little smaller stateroom. We were never on the Aegir. I ...
