Enjoyed what felt like authentic Mexico. Hotel Reef Yucatan beach break was very enjoyable. A massage for $25, unlimited food and alcohol, and a beautiful pool area and the ocean. We also enjoyed the little bar right at port for some cheap beer before getting back on board. ...

In Progresso we chose to tour the Mayan Ruins which I highly recommend. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and of course entertaining. After small lessons in history, we were free to explore on our own. Make sure you bring a swimsuit because there is a natural watering hole to cool off. This time of year the high temperature was only 82 but having clear skies all around you will need to bring ...

absolutely go to the Autoprogreso website and choose an excursion. it is a very small and poor town, so some are not comfortable wandering through town but DO NOT hide out on the ship. it would be a shame to miss out on the Mayan ruins or Merida. we chose a short visit to Xcambo, only 45 minutes away and a smaller site because travelling with my 80 yr old aunt, We did not want to sit out a 2 hr ...

From reading port reviews we knew there wasn't much in Progreso beyond a trip to the Mayan ruins or shopping. We did neither. We took the free shuttle to town and then walked to the public beach. Nice and lively atmosphere as there were several dozen passengers from the ship with the same idea. We landed at a place called Tommy's on the beach (main building and bathrooms) across the street. The ...

Don't do the Mayan ruins in Progresso unless you can walk about two miles and can stand around a lot. Our guide was 77 years old and informative. He showed us every tree and rock for a solid three hours in 90 degree weather. He would talk for 15 minutes, take 10 steps and then talk for another 15 minutes. He tended to repeat himself often and a lot of his conversation was about ...

I got off the ship just to shop in the little market at the cruise terminal with my mother-in-law. I found it a little disconcerting how aggressive some of the vendors were. Also, I'm kinda mad at myself because I ended up paying more for vanilla at one store. There was also one store selling counterfeit COACH purses, which I notified the COACH corporation about. However, the little bar at ...

We didn't do much here. Took the double decker bus tour for $5 per person. Definitely worth it. We shopped in the market area. Lots and lots of people trying to sell but that is what they do - can't blame them for trying. We were not looking for a beach day but it would have been perfect right there, looking at the ship. Not pretty white sand but very nice for looking for shells - lots ...
