Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Grandeur of the Seas

There are only a few blocks of Nassau that are generally considered "safe" to walk around. And even on those there is plenty of soliciting to dodge. I get that they survive on tourism dollars, but it's still less than enjoyable to have to say, "No, thanks." every 20 steps. Every 2 steps, if you're in the Straw Market. I REALLY enjoyed Pirate Republic Brewing. Great beers, great environment, ...

We found a taxi driver near the port who was willing to guide us along the island for around $60 dollars an hour US. He was very nice and took us to some great spots for lunch and shopping. ...

We just did a self tour of Nassau, walking up to the Fort Fincastle and the Queen's staircase. We also walked around the government buildings by the shops. We were more interested in having a quieter day on the ship with less people. This is only our second time in Nassau and still aren't that impressed with it. If we didn't have a Coco Cay day, we would have done a beach excursion. I ...

Plenty of shopping in town as soon as you dock. Didn't take an excursion so didn't see a great deal of the island but found the staff in local shops friendly and not pushy! ...

We did a taxi tour, he was very, very nice. However, I don't think they should drive you through the poorest areas. It feels like an intrusion to be looking out the window of a taxi and into someone's one room home where they sleep on a table. It just did not feel right. ...

Nassau itself is nothing interesting to see. But we got day passes to the Hilton Colonial hotel. $60 each for over 12 year olds with a $40 food and beverage credit. We got to hang out on the beach, paddleboard (included) and swim. Plus its walking distance to the boat. Highly recommend it. ...

There are only three real options at Nassau: Go to Atlantis, Walk around the shops by the ships, or go scuba\snorkeling. We chose to just walk around the shops. We bought a few trinkets and then returned to the ship. If we went on another cruise with this port, we would consider just staying on the ship. ...
