Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Jade

We were here November 22 & 23, as riots were getting really heated (and deadly) in Tahrir Square. Excursions to the Museum were cancelled. Fortunately, we had booked a private excursion with the excellent Egypt Daily Tours, and owner Rasha El-Ashmawy was our guide. She sent a driver to us in Alexandria (it's 3 hours to the Pyramids) and the drive was eye-opening. No traffic lights, no stop ...

What a disgusting pit. There's been no trash collection since January's revolution. (10 months). Since you have to pay taxes when you finish your building, none of the buildings are finished. DUH! Civil unrest is still a daily occurrence. I say skip Egypt and stay on the ship. It's dangerous. Really. I've been in combat and I don't ever want to go back here unless they get a non-corrupt ...

For this port we used Memphis Tours and did an overnight in Cairo. Our guide was Tarek and we had the time of our lives. We felt very safe with Tarek as he was a former Egyptian bodybuilding champion. He is very knowledgeable and always protected us from being harassed by vendors. He introduced us to a trusted vendor where we negotiated a fair price for pictures with camels by the Pyramids ahead ...

We really didn't see much of Alexandria as we had begun in Port Said, which is not on the pull-down list for some reason. Ramses tours provide a marvelous guid, Mahmoud Gouda, and an incredibly proficient driver, Ahmad, to get us through the incredible Cairo traffic. Many highlights including all the usual sites -- Sakhara, Memphis, Giza, Citidel of Saladin and the Alabaster Mosque, the great ...

We arrived at Port Said early in the morning and immediately boarded the tour bus for the 13+ hour journey of Pyramids, Saqqara, Camel & Jeep Adventure before getting back to ship in Alexandria 9:30pm. It was surreal to see the huge cargo ships looming right next to the highway in the parallel Suez Canal. After seeing the Freedom Bridge which arches over the Suez Canal, we turned to Cairo and ...

We loved Alexandria with its corniche, old colonial buildings, Roman remains and its very impressive new library. The views from the open-air cafe at the top of the Cecil Hotel are excellent looking out to sea and up and down the corniche. ...
