Norwegian Jade to the Mediterranean

Sail Date: January 2011
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

We cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had on our recent cruise on the Jade. The ship itself was wonderful--immaculately clean, staff that was always available and cheerful, food that was excellent, entertainment that was varied and delightful, and a stateroom that had plenty of space for storage. The spa offered a variety of services and the quality was outstanding. The fitness center offered classes as well as a variety of equipment and a spacious room.

We went on excursions in all of the ports. In Rome, we did "Rome on your own" which provided transportation to the city and back. On the way, the guide pointed out interesting facts about the city as well as the surrounding  area. The Athens excursion was perfect--the Acropolis and a drive along the coast to the Poseidon Temple at sunset. Turkey was a particular surprise.

Ephesus was amazing and, with few crowds and an excellent guide, we had plenty of time to explore. The two days in Egypt More allowed us to experience a little of today's culture as well as the incredible sights. Finally, Malta is an island not to be missed. Beauty and history together. What a combination!

The number of international travellers on the Jade made the experience especially enjoyable. We met folks from Australia, Brazil, Europe, Africa, Asia and, of course, America.

We would highly recommend NCL and the Jade! Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Jade Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony Deck 8

Room 10076 was excellent--quiet, nice balcony, good closet space, plenty of room for 2 people.

Port and Shore Excursions

An opportunity to see a culture very different from our own and sights that we

have only read about. Incredible!

We were there on Christmas so shops were closed. However, the sights

were open so we were very pleased.

Fascinating city. Probably not particularly interesting for children, though.

What a surprise! Epheseus. An opportunity to imagine life as it might have

been thousands of years ago.

Beautiful port city. Medina was beautiful and the cathedrals in both Medina

and Malta are not to be missed. Don't forget to look at the intricate silver

and glass.
