Not new to NCL, but very disappointed in quality of food and condition of ship.
Left out of port canaveral dec 4 in the hopes to snorkle with the sea turtles-well maybe next time.
Got on the ship pretty quickly--good.
the baggage got to the rooms pretty quickly--yay.
the air conditioning was not working- we cranked it and left to come back a few hours to give it a chance to cool off, no such luck, we called front desk and they said someone would come to fix, a few hours later when we went back to the room, it wasn't fixed, nor was it workimng, i called the front desk and let them know again that it was not working, and that they had 2 women having hot flashes and the air needed to be fixed before we went to bed or they would have to move us to another room with working air, they had someone to the room within 15 minutes and it turns out the fan was sjhot and the lines needed flushing among other things, long story short, the air was working for the rest of the trip---yay thanx.
service and staff made the trip a good one.
The presentation of food was good, too bad the food tasted terrible- i'm easily impressed and don't expect much , the kind of person who makes a good time no matter where we go, again thanx to the crew of the sun.
The entertainment was fantastic.
The room size and storgae-good.
Kept clean and stocked.
Muster drill we no longer have to wear the stinky life jackets , yay cruiselines for doing it this way.
on the deck where the lifeboats are, was duct tape holding a railing or 5 in place as the safety rail--NOT.
There was also a piece of wood duct tape as if it where a railing--NOT.
We got to Nassau, then off to st. thomas or so we thought, ship had mechanical problems, clutch/propelsion propeller or something like that, spead dropped from 20 knots to 7-10 knots causing us to not be able to get to our ports of choice.
Turned around and headed for the domincan Republic and not the good side from what i'm hearing, it was interesting, but not ST. Thomas or st. martaan.
I just heard but haven't been able to confirm yet, that the propeller and clutch where fixed in samana but we still didn't head to our ports, instead we went to stirrup caye the NCL private island,we were atleast able to get in a little snorkling.
NCL realized we needed to be compensated and they through us a few small un announced had to be found bones. free pictures, free rum punch for an hour or 2.half price snorkle gear on their private island- guess people who have their own gear don't count as needing a perk to make us want to dare and use NCL again.
free wine with dinner if you found out in time to ask for it, again, not a drinker, what perk might i get???
30% which is like 110.00 total for 2 people as a deduction on an NCL cruise used within a year, good- not great, but better then nothing.
Norwegian please scrap the Sun and it's cooks, it's bringing down your reputation.
