We chose a Thomson Cruise because we always stay in Thomson hotels and expected this to be the same standard. How wrong could we be!! The ship is tired and dated and downright dirty in places. We chose inside cabins (can't see the point in portholes as you sail at night and they all seemed to be partially obstructed by the lifeboats anyway). They were basic but clean, as expected. However, the towels were like cardboard, the sheets had holes in as did the beach towels they provide. There was a tray of drinks but these were charged extra, despite the fact that we had upgraded to all inclusive. The outside seating areas were a disgrace, dirty seat covers and dirty sunbeds. The Orion dining room served lovely breakfasts but dinner time was a different matter. The service was appalling and the food often cold. A tip - make sure you take something warm to wear in the Orion as the aircon was blowing cold air constantly and it was uncomfortable. The Lido and Sirens restaurants were basically cafeterias which served cafeteria food. Here you could find families who like to sit their children on the floor with a plate of chips!! The Tides bar was a nice place to sit and have a drink but again cold. The shows were OK, a bit amateur dramatics. The Medusa Bar is for those who like bingo and quizzes and don't mind children crawling over the floor - not our scene! As far as the service of the staff, they were lovely and do the best they can with what they have to work with. Would we go again? DEFINITELY NOT. This ship is more akin to a holiday camp and such a disappointment. We really expected more from Thomsons!!!!
