12 days of GREAT PORTS; the management crew on the BOTS needs to be trained though.

Welcome to Florence on TV Screen on Deck 10
The sail in to Venice - Amazing
Sailing into Kotor
View of Kotor from fort - after walking the 1700 steps. And worth it!

This will be short because of time. We took this because of the amazing itinerary - some ports of which have now been deleted. Ravenna was wonderful but they stopped going there. Kotor is a great port for the sail in (90 minutes) through the fjords and the walk to the fort -1700 steps!)

The ship this time let us down. We've been on the BOTS before and loved it. Cabin crew was great but upper level staff were often pompous and Nasty. The captain was never around the ship and his daily announcements were always mumbled. (NO ONE understood them). They now CHARGE for pastries in the Cafe Latitudes (unless you BUY a high pruiced coffee). MTD is still a problem getting folks seated. The entertainment was really poor. (The audience actually walked out on a singer one night when he forgot the words!).

Royal seems to be cutting back on staff. There was definitely a shortage in the MDR and there was almost always a wait for a table in MTD even with a reservation. They eliminated the Lobster Tail dinner (You can buy for $30 up charge any night for 1 1/4 lb lobster). It is replaced by Jumbo Shrimp. No longer free pasteries in Cafe Latitudes and the ONLY place for free regular coffee at night is in the Windjammer - and the pot often empty.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin F

The cabin was fine and we liked that it was not a "thru hall" so no one walked by.

Bed comfortable and we liked the head being below the large window. And - for first time in a while - there was plenty of storage space

Port Reviews

Florence (Livorno)

Easy to take train from Livorno. Never enough time there Art, scenery and Gelato! Don't miss the Perfurmeria

Nice

Easy bus ride to Nice from Ville-France. A must do is to take FREE elevator to top of castle hill

Kotor

Amazing sail in of 90 minutes of fjords and I took the challenge to walk the 1700 steps to the fort near top. GREAT views

Venice

What can I say? Venice is a must see (our 5th time) and nice to be there overnight.

Positano (Amalfi)

We docked in Salerno and took a private tour to Sorento, Poisitano and Ravello. Great views. I'd suggest doing Sorento 2 hours - Positano 2 hours and Amalfi 1 hour. Ravello was nice but too far out of way.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Know that you are 90 minutes away from Rome. Train is easy and cheap to get there.

Barcelona

You must add 2-3 nights in Barcelona - preferably AFTER the cruise
