Dear friends of ours were happy to hear that my husband and I wanted to do the CA Coastal 7 day cruise with them on April 16 on Crown Princess. We had always shied away from that line because of their prices but we really wanted to go with our friends so we didn't care what the cost. Got an interior for $700(total) for each but 2 weeks before the price dropped so we were upgraded to an oceanview room right under the casino. Thanks a lot, we thought! Not a sound from up above day or night!

But now I'd like to let everyone know how we lost almost our whole first day on this ship. Embarkation was delayed 3 hours and we didn't leave San Pedro until 7PM. They let 3200 guests into the terminal at 3PM and we were in line about an hour. 3 windows were not open but 4 employees stood back talking until preferred guests were led to the windows. In this situation they should have checked EVERYONE in as quickly as possible. A lot of us had been up since very early in the morning and just wanted to sit down. Did I mention this was all because They were cleaning the ship because of Norovirus on the previous cruise?! After check-in, off to another big room with limited seating and get our boarding card #s. Were we ever gonna get our first fruity booze drink???!!!

Finally on the ship and muster at 6:30 with full lifejacket on! OY!!! My husband got run over by a scooter lady and we just rolled our eyes! Tried to go to the very small buffet area but no self serving so the line immensely long. Staff had to serve everything for the next 4 days 'cuz we now had Norovirus aboard after all the cleaning and delays. I was not happy! Went to the dining room which was very good and remained so for the rest of the cruise. We ate most times there for dinner and once for breakfast. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, soft ice cream in the off hours. One unique and wonderful spot is the International Cafe on deck 5 just off the Piazza. There you can order great sandwiches and salads and desserts ALL FOR FREE!!! It took about 2 days for people to realize this and we were only 4 doors down from here so we locked onto it real quick! Great hot choc for a fee. And it's open 24 hours! Staff always smiling.Be prepared for half size elevators compared to other cruise ships and some areas you can't get to certain decks. We never really did figure out this layout of the ship. Whoever designed this ship probably planned to never go on itLOL!

Cabin Review

Oceanview

Cabin OC

Price fell so we were upgraded from interior to oceanview on deck 5. We were worried that being right below the casino we would for sure need earplugs. Super quiet day and night!Bathroom very small and don't drop the soap 'cuz you can't bend over to pick it up in the shower!! Plenty of room to move around in the room and lots of storage space. The carpeting really needs to be replaced. Overall, it was a very relaxing room.

Port Reviews

Los Angeles

San Pedro,CA is a small port area and quite congested with people picking up after a cruise.

San Francisco

We traveled by clean bus for 5 hours and stopped at all the best overlook spots. Our tour guide and driver were the best! Great time and highly recommend this excursion!

San Diego

Beautiful day when we went under the Coronado Bridge and the military helicopters did a flyover!!

Ensenada

Only got off at the pier to tell everyone I had been in Ensenada! I guess it's still the same beggars and crowds as it was 3 years ago when we were there. People went downtown and came right back. Too bad 'cuz I hear it can be lots of fun at the bars!
