Before taking this cruise I tried, pretty much in vain, to find an objective review of this ship. Of course itineraries, personal preferences for entertainment and the like vary and are subjective. Therefore I will try to keep this to the objective and post my views on just the ship so it hopefully will assist someone as I was when looking for specific information on Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas and the service experienced. By the way, this will be my fifth cruise so I do consider I have a good basis for comparison.

First impression: - very poor, in fact on boarding in Hong Kong the whole process was chaotic. A change of terminal which had not been notified to all passengers was the start of the chaos; this continued with no taxi access to the drop off point, a disorganised baggage drop off area, in fact it was so disorganised that the chaos made me question the effectiveness of baggage screening and security. Next, a long trek through a large Hong Kong shopping mall and a long snaking queue to check in, all whilst waiting in line, across retail store fronts. After queuing for almost three hours (Yes THREE) we reached the check in desk, and then had to queue again to board. Whilst Royal Caribbean blamed the local agent, the complete lack of any officers to be seen amidst this chaos makes me doubt they had any real awareness of bad it really was and little regret was expressed for the painful check in process. It is disappointing that no serious recognition of the problem nor apology was given. Whilst I understand how Royal Caribbean may claim this was a one off, and perhaps it was, it gave an indication of how they manage such situations. Junior staff left to face the anger of lots of tired and frustrated passengers. Senior officers obviously keep out of the way when things go wrong!

To the ship.
