This was our third consecutive year sailing on the Eclipse in June, the previous 2 cruises were to the Baltic with different itineraries. This year we fancied a change so experienced Iceland, The Faroe Isles and Norway. The weather was not too kind to us but we made the best of it. Didn't know what to expect of Reykjavik and as we couldn't do any active walking chose the Panoramic Reykjavik tour on the first day there. Disappointed with Reykjavik and the tour. Disliked the sombre grey concrete buildings and houses, Dulux should visit and transform the place as part of an advert. The tour visited The Pearl an observation centre where we were blown away, literally, so didn't stay long. Toured along a dual carriageway, exited turned round and came back along the dual carriageway so we saw the sights both ways. Saw a Grey concrete church very stark, and plain. Saw the University and the building site where the student accommodation was being built (nothing special about Icelandic building sites). Went to the harbour and the guide described it as "very pretty", she asked if anyone wanted to get off and take pictures, no-one did, the tour lasted two & half hours of riding backwards and forwards along the same roads. Not worth the money, if they can't find a better more interesting itinerary then they shouldn't run it.

Second day in port, stayed on the ship. The Faroe Isles, when researching prior to the cruise could find very little out about the port of Klaksvic and the city of Torshavn, so decided not to book a tour. Klaksvic is 2 hours by road from Torshavn and from those passengers who made it there were disappointed. The locals didn't know there was ship in port so not many of the shops were open. We stayed on the ship. It was cold raining and low cloud about. Alesund Noway, our first time here and it looked interesting and quite lovely architecturally. We decided to do our own thing here. From the port there are Hop on Hop off buses, a motorised train (warning very tight fit getting into carriages if you are large build or disabled in any way). There were a few taxis there as well. We bartered with a taxi driver for a tour of the city, and dropped onto a first class star of a driver. The weather was overcast and showery, he took us through the town centre streets pointing out various buildings, then took us to an observation point where all the tour buses go to, we stayed in the vehicle taking photos as we wanted. He took us to the out door museum to see the grass roofed houses, watermill, etc and boat building. He explained everything to us. We also went along the waterfront. Brilliant comfortable way to see everything and value for money (we paid by credit card to the drivers machine). We hope to return here in the future and do the town on foot if the weather is dry. Olden we had another coach trip booked. Weather cold low cloud and rain. Tour guide was very good and arranged plenty of photo stops.

Stavanger, we have been here 3 times before and as the weather was not very good decided to stay onboard.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1C

Cabin 1C

Balcony cabin, unfortunately we were only able to use it for a 2 or 3 days due to the inclement weather. One of the Duvet covers had holes in it and was not changed during the whole cruise. Lack of dusting. initial requests for pillow choices and extra hangers carried out straight away.
