Yes, we too had a few trepidations about the cruise on the Magellan based on some of the negative reviews we'd read...but we really, really enjoyed our experience! First thing you have to accept is that this is a MIDsized ship and if you are used to a lot of amenities, a lot of entertainment options and the big casinos of the larger cruise ships, you may be disappointed. If these things are important to you, you might want to book a cruise somewhere else.

The Magellan is very clean, the crew is unfailingly polite and friendly, the food is very good and the cabins are comfortable. There are a lot of places inside to sit and meet up with friends, to read a book or just to look at the scenery. It was very cold on our cruise, so we did not sit outside very much, although there was a lot of deck space available. The cruise was adult only and that also added to the serenity and peacefulness of the experience. Our cabin was on 6 forward and it was quiet (we did talk to some people whose cabins seemed to have more noise than ours...). We booked the 9 night cruise, which included a trip to Amsterdam and Antwerp and then to Norway. We are very pleased with Magellan and would not hesitate to recommend them.
