Some cost cutting by Celebrity is evident but not a deal breaker

A little background...I am a 60 year old female traveling with my female partner. This was cruise #20 for us, 5th on Celebrity. Celebrity is our favorite and we have always done 10+ day cruises on them. We have done two repositioning cruises (11 and 14 days respectively)with Celebrity along with Greece/Turkey (10 days), Australia/New Zealand (12 days) and now the Baltic (12 days).

The destinations were incredible! One port was more spectacular than the next with St. Petersburg being the crown jewel (almost literally!). If you do this cruise, try to get a room on the starboard side for the Fredericia show at arrival and departure. It is not to be missed. This little village is incredible!

Here are my observations about the current Celebrity. They pushed the 1-2-3 Go package on this cruise with the result of us taking advantage of it (along with the majority of other passengers). This was the first cruise we have ever done any kind of "drink package". We certainly enjoyed having the onboard credit and the pre-paid tips, but it is the drink package that garnered the most attention from us. We are casual drinkers; we will have a glass of wine with dinner and an occasional cocktail before dinner; we will buy a bottle of wine or two and it lasts the entire cruise. But, doing the math (pre-cruise) we decided to partake of the entire 1-2-3 Go package (Classic) and therefore were keenly aware of these differences. We could never find a cocktail waiter when we needed one. Celebrity seems to have done away with this position. If you want a cocktail, you must go to one of the bars to get one. This eliminates one of the luxuries for us casual drinkers...if you want a drink by the pool, you must get up and go get one yourself. If you want a cocktail before dinner in the main dining room, you better get one on your way in to the dining room or your order will not be taken until your dinner is well under way. If you want a cocktail while enjoying their numerous (well done) shows, you better get one on your way in. This became more of an annoyance than it should have been, unfortunately.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 1

Cabin C1

Our cabin was small but comfy. We enjoyed our balcony during docking and sail away as well as during the cruising evenings when it was still daylight at 11:30pm. Our cabin steward and assistant were excellent and other than the day we forgot and left our "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door all day while in port, they were in the cabin when we were not, and vice versa - just as it should be!
