We took our ninth Carnival cruise on the beautiful Conquest out of the Port of New Orleans on January 13th. This was another great Carnival experience for a middle age couple with a love of cruising. Each cruise experience reinforces our belief that cruising is the best vacation value around and Carnival always delivers in all the areas that matter. Having cruised other lines, we find we always return to Carnival.
The Port of New Orleans is well organized and this special city is a great place to spend some time before and after the cruise. There is no better place in the world for good food!
We found the recently refurbished Conquest to be perfectly beautiful. The decor was tasteful and all areas of the ship were clean and inviting. The staff members were friendly and helpful but not in your face.
The addition of Guy's Burgers is a winner and the Red Frog ale is the best! We love tea time and find there is a good mix of guests of different ages who participate. It is a beautiful tradition and great fun on sea days. We love dining in the formal dining area and rarely go to the buffet. We did have breakfast there several days and found it to be a good experience.
Had some good jerk chicken and Red Stripe beer in Montego Bay at the Pork Pit and some good views from Margaritaville but found little else to like about this port! We probably should have taken a Carnival excursion here and I would recommend doing so. Grand Cayman was beautiful and Cozumel was grand as always!
Did not find much to complain about! We are not smokers and the smoke is a little heavy in the casino. Think they could do a little more to confine smokers to certain areas there but we don't spend much time in the casino so it was not a big deal. The ship was a little cool in some areas but no other complaints.
