Ship Facts: Carnival Conquest Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Conquest Deck Plans
Cruise of a lifetime
The cruise was our wonderful trip of a lifetime. We are first time cruisers and it was the best vacation we have ever taken, and can't wait to plan another cruise. New Orleans was a great place to get in and out easily. The trip down the Mississippi was mostly in the dark even though we left on time, but that's what you get at this time of year. The ship was great, it was clean and the crew was great. Our room was clean and our steward, Jose kept it clean twice a day. Some of the bartenders were better than others, but all were great.

We did anytime dining, and I was a little concerned due to some comments left by others. But it was wonderful. We had dinner with other couples some nights and it was nice to meet other couples. The dinner was so nice; I could use that treatment more often. I felt as though I were queen. Food was great and different. We ate in the steak house one night and it is really worth the extra fee. My husband loves his steak and said it was wonderful. There was steak in the dining room every night, and he said it was good, but the steak house was out of this world good. We ate in the buffet for breakfast some days, but mostly ate in the dining room for breakfast and dinner and were too full to eat much for lunch.

We went to the Hasbro games and they were great. We also went to some of the lectures on things to do. We bought 2 of the fun ship coupon books. Our excursions didn't go to the shops in the fun ship coupons, but in Cozumel, we just shopped and used our coupons and got our money's worth out of the book.

Jamaica we went on the River raft down the Martha Brae. It was a great experience; our guide talked and sang to us. The guides try to sell you a decorated gourd, most cruisers bought them and I treasure mine. Grand Cayman we went on Explore Grand Cayman by Land and Sea and it was worth it. We went down in the sub, saw the turtle farm, stopped to see a beach, and went to the devil's house and a rum cake factory as well as a tour of the island. If you want to do an excursion in Grand Cayman, I suggest you book from Carnival due to getting off in tenders. Cozumel, we just shopped, it is cheap and there are great places right in port.

Weather was great until last nights when the water was white capping due to front going through, but you can't control the weather. We had motion sickness patches, don't know that we needed them, but didn't want to take any chances.

We went to New Orleans 3 days early and it was great. We stayed at the Prytania Park in the Garden district. It was a wonderful safe place to stay and only 1 block from buses and trolleys.

Can't wait to plan another cruise and will leave from New Orleans again.
