A friend and I booked a trip on the Viking Freya to take in the Christmas Markets along the Danube this December. Overall, it was a fabulous cruise in terms of the ports, service, staff and shore excursions. For those who love to shop, it is a great time to check out the holiday items in Europe and experience the foods/drinks of the region.
That said, the only issue we had was with the cabin. The ship itself is ultra modern and Scandanavian chique, however, the bathroom facility, although well outfitted for essentials, has glass walls. The walls one can change from clear to smokey but it still allows for a shadow show of all happenings in the bathroom. The irony here is that more than the majority of guests are of AARP age and not exactly modeling material. There is no fan so that all sounds in the facility can be heard in the main cabin. Another member reviewed the ship when it was first launched and commented on the bathroom lighting. The entire cabin is ablaze if one person uses the bathroom at night and turns on the light. Just a horrible design!!!
If you are very comfortable with your partner's body functions (and your own) then this would be of no concern. If you are traveling with a friend, not a life partner, then you may want to consider another river cruise line unless Viking decides to change their bathroom design. Just saying................
See general review. The cabins were the main issue!!!
